Films with short plots reviewsMine- D-. Very boring and not scaryThe best of you- B+. A great plot and ending and Michelle Williams performance are very storng but tom welling and some parts bring it down a bitThe Cave- D. This is just a bunch of people dying the whole time. Would have liked some backstorySkyjumper- C+. Good performances but average plot. Not sure about bonheur dying (unless this is based on real life)Dystopia, USA- B-. Really stupid but funny at the same time. Our future- B. solid plot, good performances and a good idea but it would have been good if it was longer and the grammar was quite hard to readSlenderman: the search. C+. Better than the last one but still bad

Islands of dreams- A+. An early contender for my favourite film of the year looks beautiful, superb script, superb plot and fantastic acting with Crowe and binoche possibly making an impression on my lists come Oscar time.Alice in horrorland. C+. Ok film, an average script with quite poor performances (apart from a good one by harrelson and an amazing one by Headey) but direction was good and it was enjoyableWhere you imagine. D+ I really tried to like this but I just couldn't. I am really sorry Blink. I think lerman is a terrible actor in the films I have seen him in and he was on poor form again, ronan and McAdams were the only people who acted well, the cancer twist was quite good but I would have liked a different reason and not that the stone caused it and it got ridiculous at times (they going to the moon and saving someone from committing suicide). I don't normally like these kind of films unless they are amazing and this falls into the former category unfortunately

How is The Cave just about a bunch of people dying? That sounds more like the plot of a Jonestown film ( ). You never actually see the people die, they just disappear because of all of the supernatural elements going on in the cave. And backstory for what? The Jackal? The original Creepypasta and the film intentionally leave out that detail to make the creature more mysterious (despite how short of a synopsis I gave, the original story has it better than I do) and let the viewer guess that the thing is a cosmic entity of sorts.

The short films that I will review quickly now [will do others at a later date]

Things That Are- D- As generic as a film can get

3:40 AM- D It is still 3:40AM. Didn't really get it and also quite generic

And that is actually it this quarter of the really short ones unless I missed something

Also

American Idiot- A+ I remember reading this in Y8 and it was my favourite film at the time. Still love it now and love Green Day

Sorry to bump such an old thread, but unfortunately, that's what makes the film a bit empty-handed. I get that it's supposed to be mysterious and let the audience decide, but that's not really how horror films work. The Cave really was just a bunch of people dying, and if there's no hint at what this creature may be, then it isn't scary.

Then read the original story to find out then :).
