baumer
Since I don't seem to have a lot of time right now, I asked some of you to come up with a SOTM question. Chas responded. Boy did he ever. Here it is: SOTM 7 A Question of sequels and percentages:Predict what each film will make as a percentage of its previous installment:1) 22 Jump Street (Previous Film: 21 Jump Street 138,447,667)2) How to Train Your Dragon 2 (Previous Film: 217,581,231)3) Transformers: Age of Extinction (Previous Film: 352,390,543)4) Dawn Of the Planet of the Apes (Previous Film: 176,760,185)5) Planes: Fire and Rescue (Previous Film: 90,288,712)6) The Purge Anarchy (Previous Film: 64,473,115) So for example: If a film's previous installment made 100M and you think the new film will make 75M, you will predict 75%, If you think it will make 150M, you predict 150%.Choose as many or as few films as you like. * For Each film within 0-10% of your prediction you score 7000* For Each film within 10.01-12.5% of your prediction you score 5000* For Each film within 12-20% of your prediction you score 0* For Each film more than 20% outside of your prediction you lose 10,000If you go for all 6, you must get all 6 correct within 10%. You will score a bonus of 20,000 extra points, however get even 1 wrong and you will lose of 50,000 points. SOTM 7.1 Pick two territories for Transformers. You cannot pick China or the Us/Canada market. But you can choose any other two territories. Tell me the combined gross of those two territories. If your gross is within 7% of the actual gross, then you will get 15,000 points. If you miss it by more than 7%, you will lose 15,000 points. And of course it has to be a boxofficemojo.com reported territory, so don't try to get cute and say Vatican City and Lichtenstein $0. You have options as well. If you choose to abstain from all of these questions (both 7 and 7.1) you will receive 5000 points. If you go for all of these questions, all 7, you must get all 7 correct or you lose 65,000 points. If you choose to go for even just 6 or the 7, you do not have to worry about the strict guidelines. You can choose to go for as many as you like, as little as you like or abstain. Tons of points here, this can get you back in the game or drop you off a cliff. Deadline is Thursday June 12th at 11:59 pm. Good luck! Mattrek
I'm not that stupid, not worth the risk at all. The percentages have to be WAYYYY too close. Abstain. I'll be shocked if more then 5 players go for this. If it were within a 25-50% margin I could see more people going for it, but even then OS is a crapshoot. Domestic alone is going to be unpredictable, add in OS variables and it gets ridiculously difficult. Domestic range is anywhere from 250-325m. That alone is a 20-30% difference. And TF4 is one of the smaller ranges of the films listed. Edited June 1, 2014 by Mattrek Loves Del Toro
