“Cute” isn’t really something associated with Sonic, even if he is a little animal with an old design that looked kind of pudgy. He’s seen as more of a “cool” 90s character.

Sonic's just an off-putting character in general. Pikachu's cude and cuddly, I get why they'd make a movie about him. Sonic's way too bright blue, his eyebrows are always furrowed, weirdos dress up like him and make weird art of him. He does THIS:
