CoolioD1
Frankenweenie was when i totally gave up on burton. A supposed passion project shouldn’t be so dull and lifeless. 4

This generation of critics/cinpehiles is lost, numb, jaded and apathetic to CGI spectacle. That's why they suffered a severe case of priapism last year with Mission Impossible Fallout, the only blockbuster that made them feel alive that year. Or, perhaps, everything around Dumbo doesn't work, and most of this movie is what's happening around Dumbo.
BadAtGender
Hey, it's Alice in Wonderland all over again, but without the 3D benefit that Avatar gave basically everything in 2010.

ddddeeee
That opening stretch of films is insane. Edward Scissorhands -> Batman Returns -> Ed Wood in particular. Alas...
Litio
Why are critics giving honest reviews for this Disney remake? Is Dumbo part of Disney annual sacrifice offering or they are saving money for Disney+? 1
CoolioD1
Honestly I kinda love everything up to sleepy hollow. The downward spiral after that is so fast it’s depressing.

Budget is 100+ million. 250 WW is generous I think. Man the reviews suck so far.

Seemed jaded since and never recaptured what made his movies work.
cdsacken
Disney+....ugh. They have had Disney Life for years in the UK and they can't even replicate that in the US? Just sad. Frickin Apple is going to come first.

Watching Christina Ricci’s accent go in and out is worth the watch alone.

Don't mind me I'm just shattered. I wanted this to do so well. I'm seeing it regardless with my daughter but going with expectations that the entire cast besides Dumbo and Devito suck. Hopefully I will be surprised.
ddddeeee
I was maybe 9 when I saw Sleepy Hollow and thought Ricci was like 13 and was really weirded out by her relationship with Ichabod.
reddevil19
More like Duddo... Am I right? Yeah? Cool. For what it's worth, out of Burton's 21st century filmography, I enjoyed Sweeney Todd and Corpse Bride and didn't actively dislike Miss Peregrine, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Big Fish. 40%...Yeah, he's rotten. SLAM!
Disappointing reviews. It might not affect Dumbo's box office too much, but Warner Bros sure did lift their embargo for Shazam! at the right time, because between the reviews for Shazam! and the reviews for this, the narrative is in place that Shazam! very much seems like the better option for families. The general audience is coming closer and closer to losing its interest in 'traditional' stories such as Dumbo with each passing year, anyway.
