Was the plot reveal at the end meant to be a surprise? Cause you could tell who the bad guy is the second they show up earlier on in the film...

Yeah, that plot reveal was the earth-shattering surprise that made this movie so great. If you failed to appreciate it, it's totally your fault.

there were some interesting ideas but got lost in the dull chick flick stuff and badly directed action.

 

I enjoyed the first third... not much after that. everything in the woods was boring due to a really annoying central character. there are plot holes large enough to fly an alien spaceship through that really distracted me.
