alisson23
Would be better release in last weekend of august but I don't have sure if they can finish the production/marketing on time. Heat Vision
There are 3 books. I am not sure if they will divide the last into 2 movies. You know they will. Gotta keep tradition and milking bro.
Ray G
I expect both this and Divergent to stay fairly flat with sequels. No dip, no big gain.
Cedarpoint1111
It really depends on how well the sequels will do. Also, looking at Fox's 2015 line-up, TMR 2 might actually be their second biggest movie WW behind KFP 3. I see TMR finishing over 350M. The sequel would look to 450-500M, and that would be enough to beat FF, B.O.O., Paper Towns and the Peanuts Movie methinks.. You're kind of taking it for granted that the sequel will increase. It doesn't always happen. I think they should be satisfied if it just manages to remain steady with around 300-350m ww.

baumer
I expect both this and Divergent to stay fairly flat with sequels. No dip, no big gain. Just out of curiosity, why do you think that?
CJohn
Just out of curiosity, why do you think that? I am gonna be honest here, and this is assuming Maze Runner will have the same legs as Divergent, I have no clue what both of them will make. Both can go either way.
Wormow
Releasing a sequel a year after the first didn't seem to hurt The Hunger Games franchise. Heck, the sequel outgrossed the original by more than $200 million WW. As long as the sequel follows the original in terms of storyline and quality, TMR franchise is ok. Catching Fire was released 20 months after the first film, but nonetheless, I agree. Releasing it next year will only benefit the film. The only concern I have right now is more on the technical side of things.
DAJK
The Kill Order sucksIt was the weakest, but nevertheless I still liked it. The ending was (in my opinion) one of the best parts of the series, and that made up for the rest.
DAJK
Does anyone think they'll go 3D for this one (I hope not) to increase the Box Office?
alisson23
Does anyone think they'll go 3D for this one (I hope not) to increase the Box Office? I believe no, they would need more time in pos production, 1 year is too little for this.

commonsense88
I am looking forward to it. September is now on the map
kitik
Smart move to schedule it for September. You have to go with what got you there, mixing things up is an unnecessary risk.
forg
Glad also that it's staying in September! This month is so not competitive so keep this franchise here
DAJK
So is it a given that they're doing Death Cure as well (potentially September 16, 2016) or are they going to wait and see how Scorch Trials does before they "officially" announce Death Cure? lilmac
Yes!!!!! I'm now excited about a sequel to a movie I haven't seen yet, based on a book I didn't know existed before this year.
Ray G
Just out of curiosity, why do you think that? The performance of both of these indicates that they're not mainstream phenomenons a la the big three, but rather semi-popular book franchises with a mostly fixed audience. I don't think the movies (especially Divergent, which was reviewed fairly poorly) brought in many fans who were not readers of the book. With the exception of the first and second Twilight, YA franchises are fairly steady. I expect the same to happen with these two.
grim22
Aiden Gillen aka Mayor Carcetti aka Littlefinger joins the sequel as Rat-Face: http://www.avclub.com/article/aidan-gillen-k-littlefinger-joins-maze-runner-sequ-209762 While this is good casting, I was hoping for Robert Knepper, probably the only guy who has Gillen beaten out for a Rat Face part.
