AniNate
You really do want good movies to expand in January, because otherwise all we're left with is shitty horror and comedy dumps
filmlover
What would everyone do if Marty pulled a Beyoncé and dropped this in theaters without any sort of announcement, like, tomorrow?

Damianport1
Actually Gold Derby got confirmation couple days ago from Paramount that film will be released this year. http://www.goldderby.com/article/2016/silence-martin-scorsese-liam-neeson-andrew-garfield-adam-driver-oscars-news/ Quote While that date is still not in stone, we have now had enough of a confirmation that it will indeed be released in December that the film is now available for you to predict for Oscars, Golden Globes, and SAG Awards nominations. EmpireCity
Paramount has a real conundrum on their hands. They have 3 Oscar contenders to push with Arrival, Fences and Silence. I bet they wish they could bump Silence back to next year.

The fact that the studio with the lestt brands/IPs/franchises has the most Oscah contenders makes perfect sense. They make the movies the other studios don't give a frak about. DAJK
Monster Trucks will destroy this. Both at the box office and at the oscars. The academy will make a special exception for MT you just wait.
filmlover
Guess they're gonna go wide in early January like The Revenant (even though it'll likely make 1/4th as much).

The subject matter isn't the most commercially appealing and there's no Leo in the cast. Plus it's likely gonna be a long movie. If it makes more than half as much as The Wolf of Wall Street, it'll be very lucky.
