To be fair, the per-theater-average isn't too terrible, especially given the poor reviews it had.

It would have to make about $105-115m more to pass T4 off a $36m w/e.  I don't see that happening.

Great number for Apes, good for Purge, terrible for Sex Tape. And Maleficent just keeps on rolling. Really surprising, but still nice to see. Also very nice to see is that Apes now has a small chance at $250m domestic.

To be fair, the per-theater-average isn't too terrible, especially given the poor reviews it had.

 

$495k in 68 venues--$7,279 per.  That's actually about 3 times the avg for it I expected opening in that many theaters - it's better than a lot of better reviewed studio released movies.

Disney is probably embarrassed to release the numbers of Planes 2. It will make Dragon 2 look like a blockbuster.

I can see the ANNUAL PURGE happen every year from now on, until nobody cares.

The budget was $50m, about a third of Dragons and they'll get that back theatrically even before the DVDs and toys start rolling in.
