Andy001
Any idea why China bans an awesome Mad Max movie?Due to the violence i guess. China usually bans all gore and scary movies from hollywood. They r very strict when it comes to violence and any bad images to china. kswiston
So I guess we'll get numbers for this tomorrow? Other movies have estimates already. Rentrak will probably post an updated total in a couple hours if we don't get something before then.

Moviedweeb
http://deadline.com/2015/06/mad-max-fury-road-runs-over-300m-looks-to-international-box-office-to-carry-it-1201438807/ "Mad Max: Fury Road has just surpassed $300M at the worldwide box office so far, but it’s a far cry from becoming a profit maker yet. With a hefty budget of well over $200M in production, marketing and distribution costs, this Warner Bros./Village Roadshow actioner is going to have to pull in much more to break even. It’s in its fourth week in release on both sides of the pond and will make around $8.2M this weekend domestically. It sits at $302M as of today and, of course, that number will rise substantially once it hits China (which is still unscheduled)." Deadline seems optimistic. I would be surprised if this didn't get a release in China to be honest. There is a lot of money to be made.
Dementeleus
I wonder why DHD is taking the sour approach here. It's going to turn a solid profit when all's said and done, regardless of China.
Moviedweeb
I wonder why DHD is taking the sour approach here. It's going to turn a solid profit when all's said and done, regardless of China. I agree and they are missing the bigger picture. This is launching a new franchise which is massively valuable to any studio. Batman Begins wasn't a monster success relative to its budget, but it was extremely well received, revitalized the franchise, and set the stage for an extremely successful sequel. Mad Max is in a similar situation.
