Alli
The original THR article had it at high teens, just like Variety. I think the updated article is a mistake

JB33
What am I missing here? Was the book really popular? Otherwise, I'm not seeing what the mass appeal is.

Alli
drama The Goldfinch, another TIFF opener, which is expected to do around $12M. https://deadline.com/2019/08/jennifer-lopez-hustlers-cardi-b-lili-reinhart-constance-wu-box-office-projection-1202704574/
Hatebox
The book was such a hot mess, but with some brutal editing there is the bones of a decent film story there. No reason to expect big numbers either way though.

JB33
Just picked up the book. I'm curious. Going to try to get it done before the movie releases and then I'll decide if I want to see it or not.
Webslinger
I'm about 200 pages into the book and I really like what I've read thus far. I have about a combined 1,250 pages or thereabouts left between It and Goldfinch to read ahead of their respective adaptations' releases in the next two weeks. It's a Deakins flick, so I'll see it on the big screen irrespective of how the reviews turn out.

It's also another small release for WB, at least by their standards. Looks like WB are limiting theatre counts as much as budgets these days.
