dashrendar44
While we're at it, shall we complain about the lack of diversity in Bollywood movies? I didn't know USA and India shared the same sociocultural history. Do you know a lot of white or hispanic Indians? (A white indian, that's called an englishman ) India got its own set of social issues like its traditional caste system which is another problematic issue. Because whether you were born white/black/yellow in the USA, you are american on paper but it seems to some people here that diversity is like white people (the "true americans") giving some strangers and aliens a favor that they shouldn't "abuse" too much... . Lordmandeep
Can someone give the race percentages of theatre or acting majors in the university system in the US? You see this is in my cultural group (Indian) If a person goes to University he/she is really pressured in to do business, science, law, engineering by their parents,,. In the local universities, I have seen very few people in theater and acting majors (well because the parents wont help pay for school if they choose to do that instead of the "serious topics" ) I think this also applies to a lot of other cultural groups and is a contributing factor. At the age of 17, if I told my father that I wanted to do drama instead of Finance as a major... YIKES I can imagine, how my father would have reacted. Now of course you guys would say who cares what the parents say, but lets say things are not that simple. DeeCee
It would be interesting to know what the breakup is for the SAG-AFTRA membership and how it compares to the US population. I had a search and couldn't find it. Since I believe anyone in a speaking role has to be a member it would be a better comparison then the general population.
