Frozen II | Nov 22 2019 | 2nd Most Profitable Movie of 2019. Disney does it again! | Documentary series coming to D+ June 26

I like that Frozen writers intentionally kept the ending open with the possibility of sequels. Elsa still has her magic, Anna and Kristoff aren't married, and Hans is defeated but can return as a baddie or be given a redemption arc.

When you look at Tangled, it was clear the writers thought the movie was one and done. No more magic hair, big villain dead, Rapunzel and Flynn married. The narrators at the end even TOLD you they all live happily ever ever! :P

Didn't stop them from considering a sequel, though.

Apparently Frozen's animators were treated very poorly before the movie's release. They were belittled by Disney, and constantly told Frozen wasn't going to be popular even while the animators were working hard on it. I wouldn't be surprised if Disney thought BH6 was going to be the bigger hit since it was going for that male superhero audience, while Frozen was the B movie given crap trailers all year.

Were Pixar ever truly against sequels? I know they were against Disney making direct-to-video sequels to their movies, but I don't recall them ever going full Walt Disney on the matter and refusing point-blank to make any.

Never said they were against them, just that their standards for what deserved one have definitely gotten more relaxed.

People are going to eat this shit up, btw. When I was at the Cinderella screening Friday night I actually heard people talking about this announcement.

Seriously, if it does $500 million I won't be surprised.

Very true. It is pretty crazy to think that after this year they have four announced sequels and only one announced original film.
