Weekend Numbers (4 day estimates pg 35)

I'd also wonder how Guardians is generic but Into the Storm and TMNT are original and inventive blockbusters.

Because, Baumer randomly decides what movies he likes and what movies he hates. And usually he hates certain movies to piss people off.Tarzan is his successor.

Such a load of crap.  How does anyone randomly decide what movies they are going to hate and like?  I see a film and decide from there.

Anyway, not taking the bait any further.  You guys ask me my opinions and then get angry if they differ from the norm..

That's all I have to say about that.

you missed the point of the post.....it was a joke.....this is a post that is based on weeks of another poster saying the same thing about TMNT. I don't like GOTG all that much but it has captured people's attention.  Good for it.

O.k I haven't even watched it yet since it still hasn't opened here .

Make sure to adjust those numbers for inflation.  People always forget to adjust the numbers for inflation.  Guardians isn't anywhere close to #8.

That is true, Guardians is actually at #65 adjusted for inflation. But that's comparing it to 80's and 90's blockbusters like Ghostbusters, Jurassic Park and Forrest Gump where opening weekend were a fraction of the final gross.

I mean, Guardians is definitely a big hit.  It is doing great and will finish between 305-325 domestic.

Things were better back then when legs mattered more and good word of mouth mattered more.  3-day opening weekend marketing mattered less.  Even if TF4 was did not crush up China's box office, it still would have been a hit pretty much based on the 3-day opening weekend in the U.S. alone.

If GOTG leads next weekend (which it probably will), then it'll be the first film to take the top spot in it's sixth weekend since Avatar.

Frozen was number one in its sixth weekend of wide release. Technically its seventh overall so I'm not sure if that counts.
