The Futurist
Sure there is a ceiling for them and for any other movie for that matter. But on a ww basis alone, as long as China and to a lesser extent, other territories are expanding, that ceiling won't be hit before several years, guaranteeting most sequels to actually increase worldwide even if they lose some steam domestically.Maybe. Plus with TF 4 making 300m + in China, I guess anything s possible.
Dementeleus
Guys, remember that while it's fine to discuss GOTG's numbers compared to other Marvel movies (domestic and worldwide), and potential sequel growth, any discussion of non-numbers aspects for Marvel movies should go to either the Marvel thread or the specific movie thread. Thanks.

ecstasy
What happened to If I Stay? How did it drop when everything else increased. 85%? That's beyond harsh. I want to see The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby but it's off to a dismal start in limited release. Sucks.

CJohn
Something seems wrong with that If I Stay number. It is still in over 3,000 theaters and it decreased?

It's a typo on BOM's part. They forgot to put a digit at the beginning. Edited September 13, 2014 by filmlover

filmlover
That doesn't seem too good for the Drop. That's too bad. It's pretty good when you consider it was in only 800 something theaters and wasn't given an especially big marketing push from Fox Searchlight.
Incarnadine
Im about to see The Captive....Atom Egoyans latest film starring Ryan Reynolds. Its only in Canada right now. Yheres also a sold out 11 AM showing of Shrek Forever. Cineplex has kids movies for 4 $ on Saturday mornings. $4?! Here in Vancouver it's only $2.50. Next up are Kung Fu Panda and Hugo. I hope the next time Cineplex updates the list they will have Frozen and Lego on the list for Nov. or Dec. I'd happily pay $2.50 to see those 2 again. Incarnadine
That doesn't seem too good for the Drop. That's too bad. I don't care about The Drop one way or the other, but I'd love to see it totally collapse next weekend just to see people discussing the drop for The Drop.

Ando918
Good legs for The Giver. Playing like a typical Weinstein movie that opens weak.
MovieGuyKyle17
Good #'s for The Drop considering its in less then 1,000 theaters Guardians, Cops, and Turtles should be thanking lack of competition otherwise I don't think their totals would be this big.
