Focus appears to now be getting a simultaneous IMAX release lol. Random, but I guess something had to take advantage of the format in next month besides February 6's pair of long-delayed inevitable money-losers (and neither of the hard-R-rated Valentine's Day/President's Day weekend titles are at all up the format's alley).

~ I'm hoping Big Hero 6 jumps back in the wagon.  However, they will have to increase the amount of theaters as they did with the Wreck-it Ralph last minute push but I'm projecting around $0.9 - 1.5 million right now but we'll have to wait and see if the Monday increase starts a new trend for the WDAS film.  There's also the realistic aspect of the Monday increase as it was a holiday day off but you never know, I'll keep my hopes high!

 

~ American Sniper OF COURSE will do big business and will probably manage to hit the $175 million domestic if it keeps up this break out run!

 

~ Strange Magic, I'm hoping this film breaks out or at least hits $110 million domestic.  However, I won't be seeing the film as the musical numbers do not excite me and although the animation looks quite nice, I don't have a liking for films such as Strange Magic, as strange as it sounds because I LOVE musicals.

Kingsman will be released in IMAX internationally.

American Sniper should do 40-45M this weekend.

A good bar for American Sniper is probably The Passion of the Christ's $53M second weekend. It's got that water cooler/must-see buzz going on big time right now.

 

Although thank god it's doing so great cause this weekend looks like the worst weekend for openers in who knows how long. None of the three new releases look at all appealing (though I'm guessing The Box Next Door will do okay).
