Louisiana Tax credit for films is up to 30%.  If it's 30% off the estimate $118m spent there that's a $35m rebate.

Still $121m ($156m-35m)  for this film feels like at least $40m too much.  Lionsgate though probably pre sold  extensively to foreign territories.

Wtf at the budget.

So, will the reported Mojo budget be the 156 number or the 121?

I'm sure they'll say either 150 or 156. They never take tax credits into account or do the research to find out whether any are applicable (and to be fair, that's a huge hassle and not easily found, for the most part).

They do otherwise GB wouldn't be listed at $144m.  But mostly they just list the number the studio gives out (and they always give post tax credit) and if the studio doesn't they'll list whatever number they can find in an article etc.

YIKES at that budget. WTF was Lionsgate thinking?!

Ugh. Here's hoping that the movie does well. The Deepwater Horizon tragedy is recent and culturally impactful enough that I think audiences, both American and OS, will show up. Maybe it'll be another Everest type movie that way, way overperforms in the WW market.
