Anybody here know the works of Karel Zeman? The czech director worked mostly in the 50s and 60s and produced some really unique liveaction/animation mixups. He's not that well-known anymore but everybody interested in animation should watch some of his works, there's a straight line to Terry Gilliam's style animation from Zeman.

These are some of my favorites (not in any specific order):

Arthur Christmas

The Iron Giant

The Lego Movie

The Simpsons Movie

Song of the Sea

Can't really think of others that I absolutely love. I have yet to see The Land Before Time, An American Tail, and The Secret of Nimh though, and those are all very popular. I also generally dislike Japanese animations with a few  exceptions from Ghibli.
