Jandrew
I might have to skip Interstellar so I can stay and witness these meltdowns. Only 12PM and already legendary. This is about to be the night of the year at BOF.
redfirebird2008
It probably did but IMAX didn't become a viable factor until Dark Knight and Avatar. No it didn't have IMAX. Back in 2005, only Warner Brothers released movies in IMAX. As a result, smaller blockbusters like Batman Begins were in IMAX for like 3-4 months.
#ED
Nope, it didn't. I thought Lincoln Square showed it. Weird.

After spending the last three weeks bitching about your schedule, I think you should go see the movie.
ecstasy
In other box office and on topic news, looks like TDKR will remain champ at 2D OW. Until next year.

Cedarpoint1111
It took The Wrap long enough to update: http://www.thewrap.com/hunger-games-mockingjay-takes-flight-with-17-million-at-thursday-box-office/ No apology? They don't even acknowledge the fact they were wrong the first time............

DAJK
So are this box office disappointments a result of the box office actually disappointing? Or just us not using common sense and blowing predictions out of proportion?
filmlover
Ok. It doesn't matter what anyone says. You will believe what you want. Not that anyone cares, but I'm staying out of this thread. The gloating, doom and gloom, meltdown, hyperbole, antagonism, trolling and just plain ignorance is really confounding at times. I know, right? Can't we at least wait until Sunday before dancing the grave of a movie that has already made $17M and hasn't even been out for 24 years? Yeesh.
redfirebird2008
I thought Lincoln Square showed it. Weird. They probably showed it, but it was not an official IMAX release. The Edwards Marquee (70mm IMAX in Houston) showed Sith on the IMAX screen but it was not an IMAX release. Theater only charged $13 or something instead of the usual $17 IMAX price.

JohnnyGossamer
I wasn't following BO back then. 125M was 23M over the previous series record. How much were people expecting it to do?! Given my answer's, "I can't remember." Maybe I shouldn't have went ahead and went hyperbolic. Someone else may know...
Cmasterclay
Breaking Dawn Part 1 OW ($138.1M) and/or Deathly Hallows Part 1 ($125.0M) > Mockingjay Part 1 OW (TBD)? Between the two looks realistic. I'm feelin 130. This IS more of a weekend movie than those franchises.
