Empire
I thought Lincoln Square showed it. Weird. It may have. However since it wasn't an IMAX release they probably didn't charge extra, so IMAX didn't help Sith's gross.
Cedarpoint1111
So are this box office disappointments a result of the box office actually disappointing? Or just us not using common sense and blowing predictions out of proportion? It is disappointing..... The first hunger games made more and it actually opened at midnight.

Jandrew
After spending the last three weeks bitching about your schedule, I think you should go see the movie. Sarcasm, trying to join the early fun...
JohnnyGossamer
Between the two looks realistic. I'm feelin 130. This IS more of a weekend movie than those franchises. I just never thought it would fall short of BDP1's OW, let alone DHP1's OW. Like last year, I'm sure it will stabilize. I'm thinking $135M+ OW for MJP1.
grim22
I wasn't following BO back then. 125M was 23M over the previous series record. How much were people expecting it to do?! Order of the Phoenix and Half Blood Prince both opened on a Wednesday and made around 150M by Sunday. I would guess that was the number people were expecting. filmlover
I wasn't following BO back then. 125M was 23M over the previous series record. How much were people expecting it to do?! The 5th and 6th Harry Potter had Wednesday openings, diluting the weekend demand. Obviously their openings would've been bigger than 4th had they been released on a Friday.

Empire
You need to ask? This is BOF. C'mon! Yep, people are always blowing predictions out of proportion on here. I know I am guilty of doing from time to time. Edited November 21, 2014 by Empire

ecstasy
Still want to know where they got 25m from.... Were they just guessing? Might have been using CF's number from last year, lol. Someone suggested that earlier.

redfirebird2008
140 would be a very good weekend after that preview number. I'm curious to see how the holdovers do. They might have dodged a bit of a bullet compared to Catching Fire.
