Just saw it. It's actually more interesting to me than the whole first movie.

The effects were crappy though. The first movie wasn't really bad btw. However, there wasn't anything amazing about it.

It is also the most random thing ever

I have no doubts Lionsgate will end up cancelling the division of Allegiant in 2 parts, but we will still see the franchise end on the big screen.

Lionsgate has been smart with Divergent so far, their marketing for the first movie got them that audience. They also know that the mixed reception meant that the same audience may not be back, so they added 3D to help buffer any decrease in gross.

I have no doubt they were planning on marketing it similar to MJP1 with 1 minute trailers, now they will most likely put out a full trailer.

The question is whether they will persist with a book split or not.

I doubt they will cancel it. If they manage to keep the budget in the 100 and sub 100M area, they will be saved by OS and 3D, especially if they give the movies more action scenes.

I don't know if it's great or sad that there were only 3 R rated movies that made over 150m this year, and two of them were raunchy comedies, to be honest.

Other R hits include

The Equalizer - 100m

300 2 - 106m

Non-Stop - 92m

Tammy - 85m

Annabelle - 85m

Let's Be Cops - 82m

Fury - 80m+

The Grand Budapest Hotel - 60m

There were a lot of strong ones last year though.

So if the film performs like DH1 then GOTG should top the year, yes?
