Mockingjay Part 1 vs Deathly Hallows Part 1

Interested to know which people think is a better film. Both more divisive with critics, especially regarding the split, although more so for MJ1.

DH1 for me, though I did love MJ1.

Love them both. Gotta go with Mockingjay though, Katniss is just a better protagonist with a story that I am more invested in, though Deathly Hallows part 1 is probably the finest moment in the Potter series.

MJ for me,  I love both series but for me DH1 was a low point for Potter.

It's the best Potter film in the series in my eyes, and unlike MJ1, it had a lot of plot and story. The cinematography was beautiful, and character relations deepened and matured, and the story was really gripping. Very few faults, and some scenes were so hauntingly beautiful. 

 

I love CF and THG, but MJ1 gets a B-/C+ for me. The story was paper-thin and weak. Katniss is a great protagonist, but Gale and Peeta are as bland as they come. It doesn't help that Liam's performance was just as bland.

Liam's performance was far from bland. Mockingjay is better than it's two predacesors. It really is. They just take it up a leval emotionally. The movue definetly benifits from having no games and being able to focus more on Katniss and her emotional.confliction.

I agree with what you said about MJ1.   For me both of these were a step down from the rest of the series.

I gotta go with DH1. I "liked" MJ1 but all the Harry Potter movies are special to me.

Easily DH1, it splits the book to the point where you still get a full story arc unlike Mockingjay

DH1 is by far the better movie. No question. It actually feels like a whole movie unlike MJ1. Also, it is the 2nd best in the Potter Series after POA.

I'd say Deathly Hallows Part 1 purely because it's one of my all time favorites, and if Catching Fire couldn't surpass that, Mockingjay Part 1 (from what I've heard/seen) surely won't.

DH1 sold the most tickets overseas in 2010. And it's the SEVENTH film in the series, of course it's pandering to the fanbase!
