Supergirl | CBS | Melissa Benoist from Whiplash and Glee to play the title character.

Ya think?

Well, depends, especially if Claire turns this down if she cannot commit to another television series as it will take away most of her dates. Maybe this opportunity would make her more confident in auditioning for MCU Carol Danvers.

Her agent seems really lame though. How does the less talented Dianna Agron keep getting big movie gigs while Holt is stuck in the network rut?

Seems like she is out of the running for the title role at least:

Holt, meanwhile, is among the actresses testing to star in CBS' Supergirl, which has a hefty series commitment attached. (Sources tell THR that Holt is not expected to get the part.) The in-demand actress next stars as a series regular in NBC's upcoming Charles Manson drama Aquarius, which has not yet been scheduled.

Glee and Whiplash breakout Melissa Benoist has been tapped to play the iconic DC Comics character,The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

The hourlong drama, which received a hefty series commitment, centers on Kara Zor-El, Superman's cousin, who was born on the planet Krypton and escaped amid its destruction years ago. Benoist will play Kara, who after arriving on Earth was taken in by a foster family, the Danvers, who taught her to be careful with her extraordinary powers (which she shares with her famous cousin, Superman).
