Elessar
I think the studio can live with lower takings for one movie when they have two movies (MJ). Edited December 18, 2014 by Elessar
stripe
Good, I still don't even know why this trilogy exists. It was specifically created to force you to waste your time in this thread
John Marston
I think Guru has summarized it very well. <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script> will likely happen unless the casual audiences are waiting until the weekend. Friday is the only chance it has to turn things around Edited December 18, 2014 by John Marston

grim22
Not a great number, I was expecting around 27M as that would have meant that it wasn't too frontloaded. 24.4M would probably lead to around 90M (+/- 5M either direction)

grim22
So looks like Alvin and the Chipmunks 4 has moved to KFP3's old release date of December 23, 2015. Alvin 4 against Star Wars 7 will try to do an Alvin 2 against Avatar.
Goffe
nterstellar and MJ are the only films that failed to meet expectations and Interstellar was our own fault. Xmen, Cap 2 and GOTG all over performed imo simply because they delivered on quality. Looking back on this year, there was no big event movies this year so it's not like we should have expected big break outs. most films earned pretty much what was expected of them X-Men met the low end of the predictions

Frozen
If my calculator is correct, that's a 25% drop for Mockingjay. Compared to CF's 18%.
grim22
<script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script> 26% drop, looks like Hobbit 3 OD having an effect.
Noctis
My sister just told me all her friends really didn't like MJ1 and that it could have been done in 15 minutes, lol. She'll watch MJ2, though. But it's no surprise she skipped this one.
Dementeleus
I'm a few pages behind, but ROTK was more frontloaded than FOTR or TTT. It didn't have particularly great legs post-holidays.
Noctis
BotFA sold roughly as many tickets as Divergent did on OD.
grim22
I'm a few pages behind, but ROTK was more frontloaded than FOTR or TTT. It didn't have particularly great legs post-holidays. ROTK managed to reach 300M by the time the holidays were done, with a start like that late legs were not the biggest concern for anyone I guess. BotFA sold roughly as many tickets as Divergent did on OD. And yet it will end up with almost double Divergent's final total, and 3 times Divergent's WW total. John Marston
this actually one of the most frontloaded midnights to opening day ratio ever.
