WKND Est. - Hobbit 56M, NATM 17M, Annie 16M, Exodus 8M, Mockingjay 7M, John Wick 115K, Interview 0M

I'm very happy with this weekend's results, with only two disappointments. NATM 3 and Exods, which I wish would have done better. I think Exodus will hold better next 2 weeks, but it will still wrap up with only 60-65M ish, which is truly awful. Hoping OS picks up, and this can still reach 300WW.

Even if Night at the Museum reaches 4.5-4.7 multiplier, it still only reaches 80-85M which would also be disappointing given its 127M budget. The same result could happen for Annie, but that would be fine for Sony considering its budget was only half that of Museum.

I also think Hobbit 3 still has a good chance as passing DoS. And 1B WW shouldn't be completely out of the question quite yet...

If there's one thing, I would wish for christmas, then it's getting back the excitement, that special feeling, when a special movie opened at midnight.-

I still have the feeling, that Aurora changed the movies. Maybe it's the end of the midnight-screenings, maybe something else, I don't know, but it feels like there was the start of things going wrong.

I agree with you. The Midnight screenings were fun and the previews just aren't the same. My midnight screening for The Avengers was just special, everyone laughed at all the jokes, we all went crazy at the right moments. Previews took away the magic.

This is the most dull December for boxoffice I can recall. There is really nothing that piques my interest at all. The only thing even remotely interesting is the battle for #1 of the year between GOTG and MJ1, and even that is muted since I'd be happy if either one wins.

P.K had a fantastic PTA. I don't know much about Bollywood films in the US but what is the Indian population in comparison to the size to the country because cracking the top ten for what is a foreign film is impressive.

Nice rebound for The Hobbit. It has increased in admissions in all markets around the globe, a dom decrease made no sense at all. It should end now with 250-280m.

I really doubt it gets past 240.

I forget, what were your feelings of the first two?

I liked An Unexpected Journey and thought Smaug was even better. Battle of the Five Armies is the best of the 3, tho.
