Christmas Numbers: Unbroken 15.59, ITW 15.1, BOFTA 13.1, NATM 7.35 (official estimates) | full BOM list on p22

Into the Woods opening that close to Les Mis, which I know for a fact has a much, much, much larger built-in fanbase/rush factor, is incredibly impressive. And that's on a lower number of screens. With a much more kid friendly concept and generally better WOM likely incoming from non-theater fans, I certainly can see it legging its way past the 150 Les Mis did.

Angelina won a long time ago. Aniston fans can rejoice in the fact that she's going to get a PR Oscar nom for the poorly reviewed Cake.

Thank God there's way too much goodwill for the amazing Julianne Moore and she'll keep her from winning. It's like between hair and tanning appointments, Aniston suddenly decided "I want to win an Oscar!"

Big Eyes was the big loser. Only 1.4m opening day

Big Eyes was a hard sell but the film will be profitable as it only cost $10m to make.

Marc Platt who is a producer of ITW and is a producer of Wicked mentioned that a movie is in development, I imagine Universal will probably be looking at Rob Marshall to direct given his success on ITW but the earliest I imagine it could be released is between 2017-20 but neither Universal or Platt is in a hurry to get it made as it's still making money worldwide.

Is The Gambler flopping? I missed those numbers amongst all the stanning

I think it's doing ok. It was going towards 12-15 million for the weekend and the budget is at 25 so it should eek out a prophet

I'm a little curious as to what ITW would have done with a theatre count of say 3100. Would it have kept relativly close to the same PTA and grossed 19M? Or shrunk the PTA and done somewhere in between (17M ish)?
