True, still that's two nominations and only two.  Not completely out of the ordinary (Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close did it), but I am surprised.

 

The nominations this year are very weird, only one really good surprise and a lot of very bad snubs.

Yeah but EL&IC was nommed in BSA with Sydow and not in a category that barely qualifies as a category.

At first glance Birdman and Grand Budapest both lead the nominations. 9 each.

The media will probably try and play out a Budapest vs. Boyhood battle, but Boyhood has this in the bag. Still though, I loved GBH. Honestly, 2014 is one of the strongest years ever for BP nominated films. Actually, this might just be the strongest year ever. Boyhood, Birdman, GBH,and the trio of biopics are all strong films that on a weaker year any one of these could win BP. I still haven't seen American Sniper or Whiplash.
