And yeah, South Korea had The Himalayas and Hong Kong Ip Man 3, big local movies running against TFA. So all things considering, the takings in those two countries are pretty good. Not sure which local movie can give TFA similar competition before Kung Fu Panda 3 comes out, so TFA may have a good 20 days for its run. Italy = this weekend new (extreme) OW record for local movie,... I think you have to check for each country, as local movies do not appear on an US release date calendar/chart SK has also Sherlock running against SW, a movie not even listed at Rentrak, as not a normal movie. Sherlock is this weekend placed over SW. BOM might list Sherlock later on, as they tend to add foreign movies if they get a release in the US too (Sherlock at 5. and 6. January limited) Sherlock has a today release date in China, as the first foreign movie after the winter break for foreign movies = I do not expect record numbers... (more for a group of fans numbers, frontloaded?) Only examples, why it is not simple to get a real feeling for foreign markets if there are so many local movies to consider and some exceptions too can happen... Especially with China I suppose, since it's the market of the hour as the opening day for TFA approaches.

Purple Minion
More details from Deadline: On Monday, Star Wars: The Force Awakens grossed an estimated $14.5M at offshore cinemas, a 63% drop from last Monday with most folks back to work and many kids back in school after the holidays. The international cume is now $786.1M, lifting it to the No. 14 offshore slot of all time, as it moves up the charts and should eclipse Minions at No. 10 in the next few days. It’s currently the No. 5 movie of 2015 internationally. The global gross of $1,536.3M makes it the No. 2 movie of 2015 and the No. 4 film ever worldwide. To get there, it leapfrogged last year’s Furious 7 and 2012’s Marvel’s The Avengers. http://deadline.com/2016/01/star-wars-the-force-awakens-overseas-monday-box-office-global-number-4-1201676173/

Aristis
The worst case is something like $850M OS after sunday (without China), right? Could be at $860M. And $810M Dom but could also be at $820M. So $1660M to $1680M WW after sunday. If China makes at least $30M (would be very low but you never know) it could be $880M OS, $1690M. Or will it cross $900M OS and $1700M WW? I think the WW number will be cracked. Should really underperform to miss that mark and OS is also really possible.
IronJimbo
It seems to me it will only gross more than Avatar in the UK and North America. As far as the heavyweight region/countries go atleast. China is a wildcard too.

Most of the other markets are dominated heavily by Avatar, but Titanic's gross is within reach for most of them. The most out of reach are probably Avatar's grosses in Russia and South Korea. Unless they are suddenly holding very well? Japan is holding very well for TFA, and the country is known to be a slow burner so final results impossible to predict. Adjusted by exchange Rate, it will be kicking avatar in some Latin American countries.

Yes, it slowed down very hard here (maybe) because of Quo Vado, after a strong hold during Christmas week. It will pass Inside Out and it will became the #1 movie of 2015, but €30M are now impossible.
Purple Minion
There's a new ruler on the US box-office! Deadine: Disney just sent out this release: “This afternoon, with early box office results in, Star Wars: The Force Awakens became the highest grossing film of all time in the domestic market, surpassing the $760.5M lifetime gross of Avatar in a record-shattering 20 days of release. Because it made 22.8m OS. That is a huge difference compared to SW, especially when SW passed it in dailies last week.
