Yep, everything's ok (for now). And you?

I'm doing great. I moved back to India after 20 years in the US.

Great time for you to be back. It is fantastic to be part of box office history and this is box office history (ok. Stole the line from Raiders :P).

I don't know about other countries, but here, on the evening of 31st there are no shows and on the 1st of Jan, on Friday, most theaters are closed, just like on Christmas day.

Historically, this week is stronger than Christmas week OS.

Weakly yes. But the last time the New Year was on a Friday was in 2009 I think. Same with Christmas. Of course, that was the time Avatar was playing and we cannot really get data because, OS at least, Avatar was a best like no other, TFA included. So I'm really curious if this off Friday is happening in other countries as well. Because if it does, TFA will have another brutal drop on the Thu-Fri period, just like last week. Mon-Wed shold be stellar though.

Interesting analysis from Deadline:

Quote

One JW record that couldn’t be persuaded to the Dark Side was the fastest ascent to $500M internationally. SW did it in 12 days, JW in 11. Also, JW saw a drop of 41% from its first to second sessions back in June with $163.4M becoming the all-time biggest sophomore weekend ever for a day-and-date release at the international box office. SW slipped 53%, although it’s important to recall that this happened during a holiday week that saw cinemas closed for all of Christmas Day in the film’s biggest ex-U.S. market.
