I don't get the swinging some of yall do between trusting RTH or not. Yes he has better access to numbers but yall come across as ungrateful demi gods with some of your attitudes. When a film skews as old in the demo as AS and Jersey Boys there is a larger margin of error.

Yeah, I don't get this as well. People bitch when we've no numbers and bitch when we do have them. Rth doesn't have to post anything and remember for a while Deadline wasn't posting anything either so all of the complaining is ridiculous, ungrateful bastards. <_<

Of all films that had a 60m+ 2nd weekend, Alice in Wonderland is the lowest grosser with 334m. #trivia

That's not a good way to look at it, out of all the films to have a 60m 2nd weekend, American Sniper will have earned the least amount of money prior. All films to have hit that number on its 2nd weekend had earned well over 200m to that point, AS still has catching up to do but im sure the holds will more than make up for it

Besides AS, the box office is terrible.

Sorry guys, but one gargantuan movie cannot save the industry when we will have already our 2nd and 3rd films earning less than $5m in wide release on the 4th weekend of the year.

I predict The Loft and Black or White, both really unnecessary films to also fail to make $5m.

Agreed, drawing conclusions about AS and the state of bo in the coming months is ill advised.

AS attracts an audience that isn t the blockbuster audience for the most part. This movie is an anomaly, nothing more.

If you take out AS, this year s oscar line up is one of the weakest one bo wise.

With the $18m Friday, my expectations have come back to earth and now I see it just beating MJ1 by a small margin. Upsetting... If it's gonna be close, I'm rooting for MJ. But I'm seeing $350 for now vs MJ1's $340.

MJ1 won t do 340 IMO.

So I just received a card from a local theater that was advertising the new recliners they have and a new restaurant. And the card says see these upcoming blockbusters and two of the films on the list Mortdecai and Strange Magic. Oops
