The EU BO should be great this year thanks to FF7, TA2, JW and SW7 :D

I think this year numbers in the EU look good compared to 2014 but they look pale compared to older movies

2015 50SoG Fast 7 AoU San Andreas Jurassic World
European Union $226.1m $229.5m $202.3m $36.6m $168.0m

Frozen, $274.7m

The Hobbit 2, $349.3m

The Hobbit Skyfall Ice Age 4 Harry Potter 8 The Lord Of The Rings 3 Ice Age 3 Avatar Titanic (Total)
Year 2012 2012 2012 2011 2003 2009 2009 1998 y 2012
EU $361.0m $454.1m $283.3m $412.4m $434.2m $385.0m $845.9m $700.7m

Well, Bond will do strong numbers this year, and Fantastic Beasts should take the crown next year.

the main thing to say about "the world's second biggest market" is that it's a composite of many smaller markets, with different demographics, languages, opening dates, distributors and even currencies. So while it's nice to have a thread about the EU as a whole, the single countries have more interesting threads - among them UK, France and Germany which are very strong markets on their own.

Agree

And different weather conditions,... what was especially this year in some weeks seemingly a big problem. Or different local movies that run at the same time or not 'against' ehatever foreign movie ....

Well, that's true but still I think it's interesting to know how big it is when you add all the grosses from the different countries ^^

I think that should be posted here:

http://deadline.com/2016/05/european-box-office-2015-record-hollywood-star-wars-force-awakens-1201748862/

Biggest Movies in 2015: Star Wars: The Force Awakens (39.8M admissions), Minions (39.5M), Spectre (37.9M), Jurassic World (30.4M)

But should't SW have made more? Or is this just until the end of December? Probably that's the case...

TFA made more than $600M in Europe, divide both numbers and you get an average price of $15+ ...... seems a bit too high for me. So it should have had more admissions.

This Thread is European Union, but I think the article is about Europe as a whole. I made some calculations because I was interested in number. For the countries with + I don't have accurate admission data.

Germany 9M

France 10.4M

GB 11M+

Italy 3.4M

Spain 3M+

Poland 3M

Sweden, Hungary 1.2M

Netherlands 1M+

Belgium 900k+

Austria, Ukraine 800k

Switzerland, Denmark 700k

Ireland 600k+

Finland, Norwegen, Czech Republic, Romania  600k

Others about 1-1.5M

I'm not sure with Russia though. The article seems to exclude it.

That's already more than 50M so it should be only the number till the end of the year.

Sure. The 3 million Spanish figure is by 2015 ending. The total admissions here is already around 5 million.
