It is supposed to be out on July 28th 2017, but have yet to see anything from it.

It's a smaller scale thriller, so there's no need to release a trailer right now in December 2016.

I see a big increase. I think most people discovered JW on DVD/Streaming. I'll definitely see this in cinemas.

Just saw the second trailer and I enjoyed it more than the first, I can't wait!

This movie looks good. However, the main indicator that the sequels to Pitch Perfect, Austin Powers, and another movie I forgot, would increase were the HV sales.

 

My question is, did the HV #s from the original look good? Here's what the-numbers.com says:

Just glancing at the last few charts on the site, the #s seem... pretty good?

 

Ofc it didn't do as well as the tentpoles but it seemed in line with other successful films

 

I think that for a movie that didn't make that much, it will have a decent increase up to about $65-70m DOM

As per The Numbers, it sold 1.1 million DVD/BR-DVD units.

 

Here are some comparables:

 

The Hateful Eight: 1,000,000

Jupiter Ascending: 800,000

Black Mass: 500,000

Need for Speed: 500,000

The Man From UNCLE (2015): 400,000

Sicario: 350,000

Insidious Ch. 3: 150,000

The Giver: 110,000

 

Only a Tarantino movie was close to John Wick in terms of DVD sales. I thought the closest would probably be Sicario, which isn't even close.

 

We'll see if DVD/steaming revenues boost it, but it absolutely punched above its weight at Home Video.

It sold the same numbers as the first Jack Reacher. And look what happened to JR2. (of course JW did worse in theaters, so the 1.1. is most impressive)

 

If the movie is crap like JR2, it's gonna flop

Two years of difference between streaming/on-demand buildup. Much more options for streaming John Wick, and thus less physical sales. But yes, this is dependent on quality. JR 2 did fine for a poorly reviewed movie with limited marketing. This has had strong marketing, but it needs strong reviews, too. With those, it could do 30 mill OW.
