hmm gotta agree with a lot of complaints here but QS isnt one of them. I was actually crying when he died. I dont get the 'who really cared? We barely knew that two dimensional character' comments.

But thats just me. After reading the reviews I was expecting not to feel anything but strangely I DID.

Positives :

  • Humour - maybe even funnier than in TA. Every character gets something memorable to say or do.
  • Sci bros - 'Mad scientists part 2' scene had the whole room in fits of laughter   ugh the fact that I won't get them for a while now makes me super depressed :(
  • Cameos - all were welcome (I wanted Sharon & FitzSimons to appear too tho)
  • Chemistry of the team - great as usual. But some still lack memorable interaction like BW/Thor for example
  • Brutasha - Im sad that the beginning of the relatinship happened offscreen. The bedroom scene is outstanding. shed a tear. Although the under the table 'tumble' scene was kinda OTT & felt like from some Hangover series insallment. weird & not the kind of humor I like.
  • Wanda's visions -  really liked how it was all edited. In IMAX the Stark one was the most impressive.
  • Thor - powerful yet funny
  • Mjolnir - became a character!
  • Cap/Tony - well I saw  lots of complaints that we dont plant any seeds fro Civil war. Well I saw them!
  • Andy Serkis - well he's an MVP in everything he's in but it was like 2 mins!!!! I demand MORE!!!
  • Hawkeye - great funny moments. Joss def felt guilty for TA ))) He shines
  • General hotness - yep I got shirtless Mark & Hemsy, Jeremy arm porn = here's a happy woman B)
  • Visuals & prod design - better than TA especially I loved Vision's cape. Felt so real like u can reach out & touch the fabric.
  • Hawkeye/ QS - I liked their runing (pun intended)))) joke.

Negatives

  • Ultron - dubbed so havent heard the Spader voice so cant comment. but he was kinda boring but visually good. I liked all the biblical allusions.
  • Vision  - was bit of a letdown not a negative per se. Just b/c it was too hyped & I liked him in EMH cartoon. The origin scene & the dialogue (maybe I will be able to get at leats SOME on rewatch) Basically it felt like "Oh I'm alive & I'm on your side so LETS GO FIGHT"
  • Battles - even the HUlkbuster/Hulk (which was awesome) had some bad camera work (shakycam?) when its impossible to follow.
  • Some scenes felt like they were cut midway. I need a director's cut.
  • Hawkeye family story - Again not that much of a negative but too much screentime spent on that (which could be spent on the twins backstory or coherent Vision philosophy). I heard groans in the audience. Maybe because ppl prefer heroes being heroes not chilling on a farm talking about repair...
  • Final battle - I found it too long & Too little Hulk in there
  • For some reason it didnt feel like a Joss film
  •  typical 'uplifting' moment like 'we will do it together' or something like that in the discussion of Ultron lab scene. So tired of those.

Or when the twins tell the story of bombs dropping on their home, killing their family, and the name on the bombs is Tony Stark. That shit was interesting, but they never explored that. Instead next thing you know they go and team up with him.

THIS as well

pretty baffled.

I get that twins want to fight against Ultron they realised a vilain but side by side with a Stark! it should have rubbed them the wrong way still! Imo they should have gotten at least 1 scene face to face with him.

The whole scene of "Remember I saved NY" was pretty bizarre (Need a rewatch)

BKB is weak as fuck for criticising everyone that's had negative things to say about the film.

If he were actually secure in his love for the franchise, he wouldn't get so defensive.

yep, according to him if its a DC/WB movie the criticism is well deserved. Even TDKR that has a higher critic score than TA2. But any bad reviews against TA2 is a conspiracy.

I thought this is one of those movies where whole was way less than sum of parts. There are quite a few good small moments but the screenplay was bad. None of the characters had adequate development. Even the action in the movie was more chaotic than well choreographed. The best part was Thor/Cap combining together. Hulkbuster scene was a let down. Hawkeye's family scenes or romance between Banner/Romanov did not connect with me.

RDJ was great as usual. Evans/Helmsworth/SJ were solid as well. off the new cast only Scarlett Witch was ok though they lacked personality as there was not much focus on any character development. I think Bryan Singer version of QuickSilver was way better.

Overall my rating is B- in the 2nd tier of marvel flicks. My ranking would be

1) IM1/CA2 - A

3) GOTG - A-

4) IM3 - A-

5) CA1 - A-

6) The Avengers - B+

7) Thor - B

8) Thor 2 - B-

9) IM2 - C-

Loved it. The story advances quite nicely. The action scenes are breathtaking. The best part is the action scene with all the Avengers protecting the core.

A-

Definitely the highlight for me too. And one of the few instances when the score is allowed to shine.

That scene was epic and an upper. Btw while this may not have the freshness of the first movie, it is a complete entertainer.

Another great scene was the scarlet witch coming out the door just blasting away. Just like the first movie, this movie has way too many cool moments. It also has some fine emotional components too.

Whedon managed to make better use of Rhodey in a handful of scenes than the three Iron Man movies together.

I loved Vision's last scene with Ultron.

And Stellan's probably going to be in Civil War.

7/10 or a solid B.

Pros

- great action

- good one liners

- humour

- good chemistry between characters

- Vision is cool

Cons

- Too much action sometimes and the best action sequences are in the first half of the movie

- Wafer thin plot

- Character motivation is weird (Why did the Hulk leave? Stark hasn't learnt anything from the previous installment etc..)

- Ultron comedic side makes him less threatening

- Hawkeye's family seems shoe horned in just to give him something to say and do

Overall I think I enjoyed TA1 more than TA2 but I still had fun.

Sounds an awful lot like Yellowjacket and his 50+ sock puppet accounts from IMDB and Flickchart.  He literally creates threads accusing anyone who gives any Marvel film a less-than-stellar review of having an agenda, then uses his sock puppets to agree with himself.  It's quite pathetic.  They all remind me of that fatass pedophile Movieworldexpress/Andre.

great cue, the Silvestri bit is faboulous, too bad it was buried under so much noise that I didn't even get to appreciate it in the movie

Loved this.

Nearly cried at Quicksilvers death. The line "you didn't see that coming??" :( whole audience gasped.

Scarlet Witch! At first I was thinking no. But she had amazing lines, hello the talk with Hawkeye? Perfect. The heart ripping? Amazing.

But her new upgraded look.... Amazing. I need to see the costume again. I was hoping she'd get a decent outfit YES!

This movie honestly, while somewhat enjoyable had some big problems for me.

For example I still feel that out of the twins Quicksilver was a useless addition, Scarlet Witch has potential but with Quicksilver dead he's gonna be ingrained in my memory as someone who hardly did anything

Ultron was entertaining albeit not in the way I was expecting. I'd been led to believe Ultron would be cold, calculating and straight to business, All the comedic parts he had in my opinion didn't really work besides him cutting off Klaws hand, it just ruined what I felt was a perfect image for him.

Nobody in this film ever felt like they developed though besides Hawkeye, but that wasn't really a hard task with how barebones he was in the first Avengers movie.

My biggest problems came from 2 things, the plot and, for gods sake, how they handled individual character time in the final battle because that seriously felt like a mess. The plot as a whole was stretched thin and it clearly didn't really know what to do with itself at certain points. This also applies to the final battle.

Vision did so little in the final battle I honestly forgot about him until he hit Ultron with Thor's hammer, and even then I'd completely forgotten Ultron decided to single out Thor, Hulk didn't do too much in the finale either, the aforementioned Quicksilver being less of a show than the X-Men version and dying and finally Hulk redoing the joke from the first movie.

Really I think somethings gone wrong when I can honestly say that I thought Hawkeye was the best done character of the movie

Overall give it a 6/10. Not bad but it's average

I honestly cannot believe how average the movie was.

On the positive side - yes, the chemistry between all the heroes is there and it's awesome, there are plenty of one line jokes, maybe even too many.

Iron Man vs Hulk was a joy.

At no point do you feel that Ultron is a real threat to the Avengers. And again no real fight scene with the vilian  and as a whole the action was weak. The movie , in some parts is poorly written, gets too slow.

I liked the Vision, Scarlet Witch is hot and i'm glad Quicksilver died -  please stop hiring Aaron Taylor Johnson in these type of movies.

5.5/10

Avengers ain't got no strings on me. Well sadly not anymore at least. I enjoyed the first film immensely, but that sense of enjoyment disappears in Age of Ultron. The film is brash, loud, action packed, but dull. Leaving the cinema's after the first Avengers I had a sense of "wow," this was more "meh" than "wow."

I found it very hard to get into this film like I wanted to. Stakes are high (the world's gonna end), but the sense of real danger isn't really there at all, however hard it tries to force it on you. The action set pieces are on the whole quite muddled and a bit, been there, done that and got the t-shirt. Crowded and often way too much going on. Sometimes more is not always better and that's the case here. I genuinely felt superhero fatigue by the end of this one.

Felt Whedon's humour starting to wear thinner as the film went on, with a lot of the comic moments (not all) feeling increasingly misplaced and forced.

Positives?

- Hopefully Marvel freshen thing's up after this.

- Paul Bettany's "The Vision" was pretty cool.

- Quicksilver/Scarlet Witches accents provided much humour.

- Hawkeye's character was fleshed out a bit more.

- Chemestry between Cap, Thor and Iron Man is fun to watch.

To sum up the film;

ACTION SET PIECE!

Beer.
ACTION SET PIECE!
"Hey wanna come to my house?" Hawkeye

Hulk romance.

ACTION SET PIECE!
ACTION SET PIECE!
Oh crap the world's going to end.

Of course it isn't.

ARE YOU READY FOR MORE?! SEQUELS!
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

5/10 (C-/D). No real emotional connection, barely a plot and no where near as much fun as The Avengers. It's not all bad though.

In perspective, this is how I rated previous Marvel Film's.

1. Avengers 9/10

2. Guardians of the Galaxy 8.5/10

3. Iron Man 8/10

4. Thor 8/10

5. Captain America 7.5/10

6. Winter Soldier 7.5/10

7. The Incredible Hulk 7/10

8. Thor: The Dark World 6/10

9. Iron Man 2 6/10

10. Avengers 2 - 5/10

11. Iron Man 3 - 4/10

i enjoyed my 2nd viewing much more than my first , mind you i enjoyed that one well enough but i've come to understand that viewing of any movie i'm looking forward to is clouding by too much excitement , i feel like the movie is going by too fast , now i know what to expect i can savor better the scene appreciate what they were aiming for !

heck even the twins were ok , i had met them so this time around they weren't strangers whom i couldnt care about even a little !

i found myself thinking nice balance between the character moments and the action sequences

i like that they give them time to hang out together , have talks , the more i think of it the more banner and romanoff evolving relationship makes sense !

yeah they're all badasses but they're also people !

i feel like some people either get tony stark or they don't , to say he just shrugs off what happen is untrue ! granted the movie moves at a swift pace , you really don't see the time flying by , so they don't dwell on it but that's because this isnt an iron man film !

when he laughs after thor holds him up by the throat , he starts chuckling and banner shakes his head because he knows what tony is really feeling and where he's coming from , maybe too much subtext going on , maybe i was paying too much attention to their physical acting , facial expressions etc (that's the hysterical kind of laugh , maniacal when you know you've screwed up majors this time around and you want to cry or punch something or hurt yourself )

alas time is of the essence and they can either wallow and play the blame game or insert "hawkeye speech to witchy girl " / short version when the going gets tough ,the tough get going

i don't recall anyone telling him they forgive him or patting him on his back for the cool idea of ultron creation , they just had bigger and more immediate priorities to deal with like world annihilation , plus i feel they were setting up the rift between cap and iron man , there will come a point obviously in cap 3 when things will come to a head between those two so don't let them cutting woods or winding down after a harrowing couple of days fool ya these two have fundamentally different approaches to world peace

just like no one was on banner's ass for what he did under witchy influence ,even though he giving his hulky issues has a harder time just moving on , poor nat though the men in her life !! but she's a tough cookie she'll deal with it !

frankly giving all the juggling needed with so many superheroes i think he did a pretty good job keeping the movie together or as together as possible ! it is a concern of mine so many characters but isnt phase 3 suppose to bring in new characters as others phase out which is what stark is trying to do and hinting at ?

i think i heard hawkeye telling his wife he'd soon be done or something , lots of talk of the future /what future they want ? what future is possible ? heck even vision and ultron chatting about humans future as doomed !

captain still incapable of moving on from his past and knowing only how to function in situation of war /chaos , hence reticence at moving in an appartment in brooklyn , feeling more at home at ex-shield /avengers facility having a clear cut purpose /mission /orders , he's still very much a soldier at heart

his wingman (antony macky) 2nd time around i finally caught what he meant by he's cool with his cold case research , he must be looking for the winter soldier /bucky who is alas the only person who gets the captain and could relate to him

i need to watch this again ! always something new to notice!

Just got back from this, really enjoyed it, though I do feel like I'm less inclined to rewatch this in the cinema than I was for Avengers or even Guardians.

In other words I think it'll open higer than Avengers but might have weaker legs. That's just me though.

Really enjoyed Scarlet Witch, but felt like killing off Quicksilver was pretty anti-climactic. Sure, kill the new guy that nobody really cares about yet.

Also, still don't care about Hawkeye, even with the added screen time. Black Widow and the Hulk were my MVPs in this one.

Top 5 MCU Movies after watching this:

1. Guardians of the Galaxy

2. Avengers

3. Iron Man

4. Captain America Winter Soldier

5. Avengers Age of Ultron
