Hotel Transylvania 2 OS Thread | 252.6m OS | $417.8m WW (as of Nov 15)

Really liked the first one. :D

The first film made more than $358m worldwide and the film has more than 9 million likes on Facebook.

My prediction is $280m OS but I think it could earn much higher if it's as good as the first one or better and much lower if the opposite happens.

The trailer and the plot seems promising!

:)

Wow! Where is this heading?

DEADLINE

The Russian-born Genndy Tartakovsky is back directing this sequel with Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Selena Gomez, Andy Samberg, Steve Buscemi and David Spade returning in their roles as voices for the loveable monsters. The total cume is $29.2M in 6,500 runs in 42 markets, including Latin America where it grossed an estimated $20.3M — more than 2.5 times the original for the same group of markets, Sony said. It’s about 150% higher than the original, which Sony noted, at current rates for the same group of markets, puts Hotel T2 ahead of top sequels Monsters University (+3%), Rio 2 (+8%), How to Train Your Dragon 2(+29%), and Ice Age: The Meltdown (+76%). This weekend’s markets represent 32%of the total international release for Hotel T2.S

Market by market and starting off with Mexico, Hotel T2 dominated the weekend with 65% market share and including previews grossed $7.9M from 3,038 screens — Sony’s biggest opening ever for the market and 182% ahead of the original. BestingInside Out (+12%) as the 2nd Biggest Animated Opening of the Year, Hotel T2 inBrazil opened with $2.7M from 1,016 screens and 70% ahead the original. InArgentina, it was No. 1 with spot with $2.0M from 275 screens, ahead ofDespicable Me 2 (+18%) and up 194% from Hotel Transylvania.

Marking the biggest September opening of all time in Central AmericaHotel T2grabbed a tidy $1.4M, which is 2x bigger than the original. Other strong No. 1 openings for the region include Colombia ($1.2M, 300 screens) and Peru ($1.1M, 242 screens).

The first installment ended up with a domestic gross of $148.3M and an international take of $210M becoming the biggest animated grosser for the studio when it bowed in 2012. Last time around, the film did best in Russia with $16M, followed by Brazil with $15.5M and Spain and Mexico close behind.

In Southeast Asia, it had a record breaking opening day for an animated film in Malaysia with $1.3M on only 180 screens — more than four  times greater than Hotel Transylvania and 16% ahead of How to Train Your Dragon 2. The Philippines also had a strong showing, coming in No. 1 and grossing $1.6M from a mere 189 screens to surpass the entire lifetime of Hotel Transylvania in just four days.

Wow!

Killing it in LA - might kick out IO as the 2nd top animation of the year! No one ever saw that coming!

HOTEL TRANSYLVANIA 2 continued to bring in audiences with another$20.4M on over 6,300 screens in 50 markets. It has kept very strong holds in its second weekend, dropping only 33% overall. The international cume on this animated family film from Sony rose to $59.8M in only 34% of its international footprint. In Latin America after only 12 days in release, it already surpassed the lifetime gross of the original 2012 film by 15% with $41.8M. It only dropped 32% in the region from last weekend’s debut so it continues to be the No. 1 film in Latin American marketplace.

hotel-2.jpg?w=321&h=174Specifically, the top Hotel T2 market is Mexico, ranking a clear #1 for the weekend with a 41% drop to gross $4.6M from 2,500 screens. The cume to date is $14.8M and that rises above the lifetime total of the first one by 33%. Not to be outdone, in Brazil, it’s down a mere 25% to scare in $1.8M from 963 screens. the total there is now $5M. Also in its 2nd weekend, Argentina, is still holding the top spot, after chasing in another $1.3M from 270 screens. And that means only a 38% drop from opening. In Argentina, the total to date is $3.9M, and — you guessed it — it also surpassed the total gross of the first installment by a big 67%. The same holds true for the Southeast Asia markets of Malaysia (+70%), Singapore (+16%), the Philippines (+88%) and Vietnam (+127%).

France will bow next on Oct. 7, followed by Italy on Oct. 8, then Germany (Oct. 15), the U.K. (Oct. 16), Russia (Oct. 22), Spain (Oct. 23), Australia (Nov. 26), and South Korea (Dec. 24)
