MrPink
So what is the point in Dom? A sequel to such a well regarded movie the end of a trilogy phenomenal hype Still dropped with no competetion in July/August 2012. Did Age of Ultron not have at least two of these? Sigh...you obviously know why the comparison is being made, but are being obtuse intentionally.
jb007
If people who want to highlight the ticket sales of TDKR, please do so for all other movies that have sold way more tickets than that, so that it does not show a POS like TDKR is above ET, Jaws, Shrek 2 etc
jb007
Did Age of Ultron not have at least two of these? True and that is the whole point. Why highlight a POS like TDKR? Unless one has an axe to grind for their asses being handed out them in 2012 by TA.
James
TDKR finished nearly $50m higher than TF2. It beat it in admissions although slightly. But AoU will finish with less admissions. TF2's 5-day opening was incredible. Because it was an amazing movie.
kayumanggi
Imax boost Was talking about it being in 2D worldwide. Didn't get any 3D boost from the still 3D loving markets overseas.
Lordmandeep
TA is biggest ticket seller Since Avatar. I win discussion over Unless SW7 does something bigger. No film will sell more tickets then TA, for the foreseeable future. It will have to be a total surprise like TA. Unless one has an axe to grind for their asses being handed out them in 2012 by TA. Sure. You are biggest subject matter expert on what film is good. A film with 88% RT, pretty much great reactions on all metrics across the board does not matter. But some one who anyway does not like nolan films considers it to be POS and so that is all that matters. folks please end the discussion here.

Nobody really has an axe to grind, just that they're two comic book movies with a shitload of hype that are going to have very similar domestic totals. If anybody had an axe to grind, it'd be me, but I don't. Frankly, I expected both AoU and TDKR to have higher domestic totals than they're going to get and yet here we are. It's interesting and worth noting. Edited May 10, 2015 by MrPink

Lordmandeep
TDKR did really well at the box office and was a well liked film. It was unexpectedly overshadowed by the unexpected success of TA in 2012. It was a huge upset at the box office and likely one of the biggest ever.
