Rosamund Pike is in talks to join to join David Oyelowo’s project A United Kingdom, though Deadline reports that no official agreement has been reached yet. The tentative film is about the true story of Prince Seretse Khama from Botswana who roused controversy when he decided to marry a white woman from London in the 1940s. The project will be financed by Pathe and is being produced by, among others, David Oyelowo who recently received critical acclaim for his portrayal of civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr in Ava DuVernay’s Selma. His prospective co-star herself received widespread acclaim for her performance as Amy in the David Fincher-directed screen adaptation of Gone Girl. http://thefilmstage.com/news/rogue-one-adds-diego-luna-jeff-nichols-sets-next-film-alicia-vikander-to-lead-the-circle-and-more/

A United Kingdom is a British biographical romantic drama film directed by Amma Asanteand starring David Oyelowo and Rosamund Pike. The screenplay, by Guy Hibbert, is based on the true-life romance between Sir Seretse Khamaand his wife Ruth Williams Khama.

The film was released in the United Kingdom on 25 November 2016.  It was scheduled to be released in the United States on 17 February 2017, but was pushed up to 10 February.

Saw it this past weekend in a packed house...so it's doing well somewhere...and I'm not in NY or LA!  It's a nice film, great performances typical of director Amma Asante's previous film (Belle -- including Tom Felton, who plays another great asshole here) and a similar historical/moral "lesson"...which is precisely its problem near the end of the film.  It's beautifully shot, but a bit drab and arguably lurches into the cliches of such historical drama a bit too much (dastardly government officials, emotional speeches in front of skeptical audiences, etc.)  But nicely done.  Rosamund Pike and Mr. O are great, as always.
