Mission: Impossible - Fallout | July 27 2018 | Paramount | Reactions coming in | "Best action movie since Fury Road"

http://collider.com/mission-impossible-6-christopher-mcquarrie-interview

In this interview McQuarrie states that they had their first test screening in Mesa, Arizona. I also vaguely remember a tweet of his where someone had asked him about that very test screening and he mentioned something to the effect of allowing every scene to have its day in court. I presume that first cut was bloated simply to test everything they've shot.

I don't wanna be a downer, but i want you guys to keep your expectations in check. We don't know if it's gonna be a good movie. I trust Mcquarrie, but...

I read they had a screening in Arizona. So i checked letterboxd and found a rating from Arizona. This one guy gave it 3.5 stars. and if you check his film history he seems pretty spot on with his ratings at least for blockbusters correlated to RT.  For example he gave RP1 four stars and the newest Kingsman he gave 3.5 stars...like MI-Fallout.

I hope it has a good opening cos competition this august is going to be fiercer than Rogue Nation.

Well is he reliable? 3.5 for kingsman is joke!

Did he watch any test screenings of other movies and gave his review before its release?

I dont know what to think anymore. With Solo flopping so badly, i'm expecting the worst for the rest of the summer.

RN came after GP which was loved. RN had a good OW, but in the end it dropped 15M from GP.

Don't wanna put it in the universe, but What if this drops from RN? I don't think Cavill is an asset, people don't care about him when not superman. And this august has bigger competition than RN had

Idk...i hope i'm wrong.

I wouldn't base a lot on a test screening rating. All kinds of factors at work there, from almost certainly not being the final version to most people not knowing how to watch a not-totally-finished movie.

That said, I have more confidence in this world wide than domestic.

I'm actually really looking forward to seeing Cavill being allowed to show of his natural charisma in a movie for once, and also witnessing the pornstach mustache in action.

The "plenty of Joe & Jane still think Tom Cruise has lost his marbles & Scientology is evil" american glass ceiling is real.

The latest two Missions should have done more domestic.

Let see if the glass can break a little bit for this one.

As long as it stays relatively level dom it should be fine, healthy OS bump + consistent dom is plenty for this one

I'm hoping for a nice little increase but I also agree that staying flat would, realistically speaking, be damn fine for this and not one bit disappointing.

I thought he was very charismatic in his last movie whenever the technical issues weren't too noticeable. But yeah, he's got plenty of potential for this kind of movies.

GP was also released in the Holidays, where its legs could flourish immensely. RN was pushed to Summer a bit on the nose, probably to run away from The Force Awakens, and Summer legs definitely are not the same as Holiday legs. So it's not the best comparison, even if yes, it's a shame that RN decreased (especially since it's a better movie).

With Fallout, I feel like the estabilishing of the Summer release will be of help, and the marketing campaign has been really good so far. Plus, the movie has pretty strong positioning as a pre-August release, where, Meg aside, it won't find any major action competition during the late Summer rally.

Solo is not MI and MI is not Solo! Say this one too grosses close to 700 pretty sure its a financial success for Paramount.

Ur posts kinda bring down the positivity.....refrain from those till the embargo is out.

Yeah if anything I'm curious not about the glass ceiling breaking but at what point the dam's gonna burst once and for all on all the scientology-related dirt he's been involved with over the years, and if he can survive the resulting shitstorm.
