Odd too since AC being done in synergy with TSS would’ve seemingly been a no-brainer move.

But once again class, this is WB…

That would be the single worst thing they can do to be honest. Kill the Ayer cut and never go near it. You don't want people arguing about the cuts online when a movie is coming out. Better to just have the cult get angry instead, don't let it go to the GA.

Most of the DC fans, a large large majority, don't want the Snyderverse continued or the Ayer cut to ever happen and are fine going forward.

Where's the evidence of that? Because it ain't in the box office numbers. The lack of hype for The Suicide Squad continues to show audiences have no interest in the new, course-corrected DCEU.

I'd blame that on the general lack of direction for this franchise. There's no real future. No real endgame to build up to. No structure. No foundation.

And yet they still intend to release 3 (4 if you include the essentially-Elseworlds Batman movie) movies all in the next year. I'm really curious how those do.

As a funny aside, in a normal world we likely would've started seeing trailers for Black Adam by now, since it was originally set for this December.

I think the impression is that the DCEU is over.

Joker was a ginormous R rated hit (even without China) and is still a DC film separate from the “DCEU”. Audiences have shown they don’t care if the films are all leading up to something or not.

Stand alone films are the way forward. It clearly works. More room for originality and less pressure.

The evidence is the large number of fans who never want to go back to Snyder and his version of things, especially after knowing what nonsense he had planned. Ayer is even below that. Snyder's divisive movies killed off the universe and it's a new start now.

Completely wrong. Sorry, but do some research. It was #1 on the U.K sales chart four times when it was released as a rental/buy. It was watched by over ten million people worldwide in the first 45 days of release. And it wasn’t marketed except by Snyder. WB tried to sabotage it by leaking it and it still found an audience. It was also over 3 hours and 45 minutes long. People are asking for it to continue on hbo max as it’s own universe but wb execs are losers and only care about their egos. That’s the truth. Why not release the streaming numbers if it was a failure? It wasn’t. That’s why WB won’t say a word about it. We could even have a series based on Snyder’s films but wb is stupid.

The opening weekend of JL is what showed everyone what Snyder’s vision did to the DC brand.

We now have movie after movie that has to deal with the same issues of questioning quality going forward, it’s unfortunate mos and BvS were so divisive.

It’s really not Snyder’s fault, he’s just making the movies he’s wants to make. The situation were in now falls on WB and allowing things to get to this point .

It’s going to take time to repair the brand and gain the audiences trust.

Because Snyder cult members like you will refuse to believe any numbers they release. They can say it flopped in viewership and release full numbers and you will go "They are lying", there is no incentive to release any numbers and just keep moving forward instead.

The fans who keep spamming "Restore the Snyderverse" are the single biggest bunch of losers stuck in the past, a past which the GA rejected in a big way. Thanks to Snyder, the DC properties have to fight back from the bottom. Good riddance to him and the cult, the rest of the fanbase and the GA will move forward and let you and other folk stay stuck in 2017 all the time. Enjoy it there.

As much as I love MoS, it was BvS where Snyder needed to deliver in a big way and the moment he didn't, there should have been a pivot. Snyder has put the universe in a place where a reboot is necessary, but his cult refuses to listen to reason.

Agreed about Watchmen, but I recently got into Doom Patrol and that’s fantastic too. Very, very weird and oddball, but if you get it, it really lands.

Agree - Doom Patrol has been awesome, and tonally perfect to the comic material without being the comic material...

Yeah. Where are the official numbers? WB is scared to release them. Keep living in your own dream world though. Oh and cool of you to use a ten year old gif. Had that ready eh? Can’t wait to watch the suicide squad fail.

That's cute.

Moderation

@TheCinephile has been threadbanned for one week for directly insulting and going after other members. You're new here, so all I will say is you better start acting a little nicer and have a bit of humility, because your attitude right now is not something we need here.

The synergy energy issues is part of it, but I think the bigger problem is that the fandom the last 5-8 years has been defined less by the brand and more by a particular filmmaker's tone/interpretation. If you stray too much arguably from that, some of those fans will not show up. I mean the last 4 years or so, so much energy from that fandom was channeled into a director's cut, seemingly more than anything else from that docket. Now that mission is complete and he's off to swim in Netflix Money and Dead Pixels, thus the fandom is generally aimless at the moment. This isn't static, things will change.

We don’t know at this point if there is a game plan for this franchise, and we likely won’t know until the Flash movie is released at the earliest.

If you ask me, I would much rather WB just scrap everything connected to this universe and only do standalone film series from here on out, but I guess they don’t want to lose Gal Gadot and Jason Momoa.
