I’ve been looking for all the reactions I could find and I have yet to see anything really negative.

 

Honestly I’m betting the reviews tomorrow are gonna be raves. This could help the film break out.

The film looks really good, but it has two things against it: The lingering bad taste from the first SS movie, and, the Covid resurgence.

I'm kinda surprised by the French reception just because they rarely really like superhero films (I mean considering that the French are pretty big on auterism, it makes sense), but I did see a critic did say Gunn is going back to his Troma roots here (but obviously on a much larger budget), so maybe he's made something that geniunely sticks out.

Not Suicide Squad being terrible.

 

Not Birds of Prey flopping showing Harley Quinn isn't a box office draw.

 

Not lame trailers audiences haven't responded to.

If someone had told me four years ago that the sequel to Suicide Squad would be well received, while the sequel to Wonder Woman would piss a lot of people off, I wouldn’t have believed them.

It's "line up early and hope" - I have the free passes, but I think I'm gonna pass and just buy my spouse tickets (he and my youngest are bugging me, so I think this will be cheap Tuesday viewing since I'll be on vacay for opening weekend)...it doesn't help the theater is 30 minutes away and in rush hour, probably 90 minutes...and did I mention I'm going on vacay soon:)...

A week ago I thought BOP numbers but now I’m thinking 25-30 OW and 55-65 DOM finish which puts it lower. BOP made 117m internationally pre- COVID, WW84 made 120 during COVID but 25m was China, Black Widow made 160 so far. I’d estimate 90-100 overseas.

 

So 145-165 WW total

People blame the hybrid release for hybrid releases doing poorly.

 

For everything else they blame covid.
