Probably to a certain degree but I think if it’s good, it can still maybe do better than Last Knight (well, only domestic).

Yea but those are exceptions not the rule, there are alot of these actors/singers who want to find success in the other profession. They need to focus on their main line of work and develop those skills thoroughly rather than think they can do the other just because they are within the same entertainment industry.

Why would she stop singing? She's had arguably more consistent success as a singer than an actress. Her music does well.

Because she’s a fantastic actress and a meh singer. Keep in mind she’s only done Edge of Seventeen, Pitch Perfect 3, and her two December movies (one of which is a voice over) since she started singing. If she devoted herself to acting, she could probably be the top actress of her generation; the Oscar nomination wasn’t a fluke. Meanwhile, her highest charting song barely cracked the top 40, right?

Her most successful song hit #12 on the Hot 100 and #5 on pop radio. 

 

She's had steady success with other songs, but no breakout hits, yes. She's a streaming force though (her numbers on Spotify are very impressive for a pop singer). She hasn't even released an album, just an EP and a string of singles.

 

I agree she's a better actress, but there's no reason she can't do both (especially when this song is supporting a movie).
