Travis Knight to direct

Quote

Bumblebee, the first spinoff of the Transformers franchise based on a popular character in the series, just landed as director Travis Knight, the helmer of the Oscar-nominated stop-motion animated success Kubo And The Two Strings. That film was Knight’s directing debut. Bumblebee would mark his first live-action film.

Laika animated Transformers movie?

fuck that'd be cool.

But yeah, we'll see how this goes. I liked Kubo visually but the story/characters left a bit to be desired IMO.

We saw what happened with Andrew Stanton and Brad Bird, animation gives people a freedom that live action just doesn't. Hopefully this works out, but with TF5 on track to be the lowest grossing of the series, this spinoff's potential is capped from the start.

Well, it's not like this has any expectations to begin with. If this is another John Carter, it'd be an improvement.

Still, I'm astonished that Knight would do this. Seemed like he was 100℅ art for art's sake . Guess his trust fund is drying up?
