Yeah, I was expecting Spy to earn at least in the upper 30's. Oh, well. Supposedly McCarthy's movies have strong legs, so if this plays similarly or better it should eventually clear $100M anyway.

 

Just goes to show you, though, just as near-universal bad reviews do not translate to a box office flop, near-universal good reviews do not guarantee mega success, either.

I always thought the ad campaign for Spy left something to be desired. As in the marketing wasn't striking enough to generate a big opening.

 

That said, this thing better have great legs. It deserves it.
