This is AOU. Check out the Brazilian OW. They are calling 12.3M bigger than 12.6M? Am I missing something here? I must be.

Disney’s Captain America: Civil War was off to a big start overseas with an estimated launch of $200.2 million from 37 territories.  Disney estimates that the film’s overseas launch is just 5 percent below the launch of last year’s Avengers: Age of Ultron and 157 percent ahead of 2014’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier in the same territories.  This weekend’s strong overseas start is another sign that points towards Captain America: Civil War performing like an Avengers sequel instead of a Captain America sequel when the film opens domestically on Friday.

Key overseas grosses for Captain America: Civil War include $28.9 million in Korea, $20.6 million in Mexico, $20.5 million in the United Kingdom, $12.3 million in Brazil, $10.9 million in Australia and $10.1 million in France.  Captain America: Civil War set new all-time opening weekend records in Mexico, Brazil and the Philippines.  The film took in an estimated $9.6 million from 205 overseas IMAX screens.

Weird though that, right now, $12.3m = R$42.26M(local currency) and there are many sources that put BvS's opening at R$43-45M. I guess it makes sense somehow and it will all be clearer to me in the next couple of days. I'll keep an eye on Brazilian news about it. I'm curious about the admissions number as well.

Can somebody find better sources than me on the Philippines record?

This article (http://pro.boxoffice.com/global-report-avengers-age-of-ultron-off-to-hot-start-furious-7-crosses-1-billion-overseas-becomes-1-movie-of-all-time-in-china/) says that Ultron opened with 7.7M, which would be higher than CW's opening there. But it's supposed to be a record

To think that first Captain America did not reach $200m OS... incredible opening. Korean and Mexican figures are absurd . Congrats to Marvel. They did it... again. The run for billion OS has started.

Going to throttle BvS in just 2.5 weeks. Lol.

Yes, because of Avengers + Spider-Man. That's a lot of money, but BVS did out gross most Marvel movies not named Avengers and IM 3 and it's only their 2nd movie in their shared universe. Suicide Squad will do the same. B)

It also cost a lot more than every Marvel movie not named AOU (and it's $250m price tag is just as bogus).  It's their "2nd" film only because Green Lantern bombed so hard they called a Do-Over

Fantastic opening! Now we wait to see how legs measure up. And for China to deliver. I'm hoping for China opening to come close or even surpass CA2's total there. Tall order but yeah, lets aim for that!

DC already produced 23 film under WB, with the huge success of the Nolan Batman trilogy and the fisrt two Superman and yet people still talking about BvS being the second film on the DCCU and they try to compare it to the Incredible Hulk or CA:TFA, those movie are medium budget flicks, BvS is a MEGA production!!!

I agree that to compare The Incredible Hulk and BvS as 2nd films of the respective universes is not a fair comparison, but either it is to asume that DC universe is 23 films long. Batman is being reprised by a new actor with a different style relative to Bale's Batman. Batman Begins should have been a megahit too with that asumption since Batman had already been huge in box office. However, it was only able to make CA1 figures even being very well received by both critics and audiences. Just after TDK and Joker's coming the trilogy exploded. It is obvious that BvS has had a meh run because of a very divisive reception and because it probably could have been a better film (even although I think the 27% of Rotten Tomatoes is a joke taking into account the 79% of IM3 or the 66% of Thor 2), but I think we should wait until Justice League I to make more fair comparisons between both universes.

Getting back to the topic, with a $200m opening, taking into account that there are still some big markets (Russia or Italy, for instance), thinking that it will explode in China, and with the very good reception, I see difficult it can not reach the billion OS. I think this will make what Ultron should had done last year.
