DAJK
^^^ Dat overseas number for The Great Wall doe I could see it doing 350 in china, and around 100 domestic. So 300OS sans china could happen. It may be a tad high but I think it could happen.
Kalo
I Wonder if Alice Through the looking Glass is being overlooked, I mean sure a lot of people hate the first movie, but I know a large amount of people who were obsessed with the first when it came out, even a Transformers 4 from 3 30% drop rate would put it at over $230m. then again a lot of people really hated it, and putting it against Apocalypse isn't a good Idea. I'm thinking 160-180M until I see some marketing to sway me to either side of that number (I like the first one by the way)

Thanks man! I expect a lot of these are going to be way off for sure, but I am going to do another set I predictions come October and then a final one Jan 1. Hopefully we get a better look at some of these movies by then so we (I) can make more accurate predictions

You can't use the fact that no one is interested in a film with over a year left to release as a reason to doubt it. I mean, it's a Disney movie. You know there's going to be hype eventually

But I do like it when a film does much better than anyone expected it to. For example I would prefer it if say Finest Hours did 300DOM rather than the 115 I predicted.

mahnamahna
Maybe, maybe not, It's the first star wars spinoff ever, if SW7 is gigantic and well liked, it is very possible Rogue One could be the #1 film of the year.. either way I see $300m as the floor for it. $300 million is only the floor if SW7 does $550 million+ DOM and has phenomenal reviews. If it gets Hobbit-esque reception, I'd say Rogue One isn't even locked for $250 million DOM. I think Dory will be huge enough that Rogue One will have to settle for #2. Either way, Disney's happy they might even have the top 3 and #5 if BvS underperforms and Moana breaks out. the top 10 DOM for 2016 looks great (updating predicts): Finding Dory: $575 million (from a $140 million OW) Rogue One: $475 million (from a $115 million OW) Batman vs. Superman: $425 million (from a $180 million OW) Captain America - Civil War: $375 million (from a $145 million OW) Moana: $325 million (from a $80 million OW) The Secret Lives of Pets: $270 million (from a $70 million OW) X-Men - Apocalypse: $250 million (from a $100 million OW) Ghostbusters: $235 million (from a $65 million OW) Independence Day 2: $225 million (from a $75 million OW) Fantastic Beasts: $215 million (from a $85 million OW) Edited July 19, 2015 by mahnamahna
electric storm
Finding Dory is going to win the year imo, that's all I'll say for now though I think people are wildly overpredicting pretty much all the comic book properties as they seem to do every year. They're not all doing 300 million + and I don't see Captain and the new Snyder exceeding their predecessors by THAT much. Biggest wildcard of the year is Passengers which could do anything from 70 million to like, 400 million. I didn't even really know about Passengers, but after looking it up, sci-fi, space, Lawrence and Pratt that's pretty much the definition of $$$... I mean paring the most bankable actor in hollywood at the moment with the most bankable actress, in their wheelhouse genres. I may need to update my predictions. Kalo
Does Passenger have an official release date yet? No, it's still in preproduction too, my guess is it would release in the fall or holiday season, sounds very Gravity/The Martian like. electric storm
It's filming in September so the assumption is a release slot in 2016 similar to Gravity/Interstellar/The Martian. Edited July 19, 2015 by electric storm
