junkshop36
Could Minions do to IO what DM2 did to MU? http://www.boxofficemojo.com/weekend/chart/?yr=2013&wknd=27&p=.htm MU become on of the rare animated films to have a 3rd, 4th and 5th weekend drop higher than the 2nd weekend drop http://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?page=weekend&id=monstersinc2.htm Could but it won't matter that much. By the time Minions comes out IO would have made the majority of its gross. It should do over 300 regardless.
PDC1987
This is the first Big Universel movie that doesn't overpreforme One could argue Blackhat ($70 million) and Seventh Son ($95 million) were big movies, but 50SOG obliterated their losses on Blackhat while they didn't bankroll Seventh Son and easily made back their low marketing cost. Gopher
Again, MU faced not only DM2 but Grown Ups 2, Turbo and a slew of other kids films taking screens/attentions all within a month of each other. IO just has to weather one weekend. Not saying it will hold better than MU, I'm saying it could. Anyway: JW- 14.7 20.28 (+38%) 15.22 (-25%) 50.2m IO- 14.99 19.35 (+29%) 15.86 (-18%) 50.2m Edited June 27, 2015 by Gopher

WrathOfHan
Didn't know Seventh son was a Uni movie, dang my bad It started production while Legendary was still with WB so I don't think it was a huge loss for Uni. PDC1987
SS grossed like $110 million globally, and Universal's marketing was very muted.
bladels
It keeps closing the gap on MovieTickets, we'll see. Not really, 3.1% gap between IO and JW now compared to 2% 3 hours ago

passerby
I would love for IO to finish in first. JW has a bunch of records already, it doesn't need this weekend. Share the wealth. =] What are the records and numbers for movies coming in 1st on their second weekend but not first?
