Magic Mike could hold up well just like the first movie. But it's not coming close to 100 million domestic if it holds up strong then about 80 million domestic but if drops fast then about 55-60 million domestic.

I'm about to say something that may be insulting, but I think it needs to be said.

MMXXL is a perfect example of why Hollywood don't make many movies geared toward women. By the way I'm a woman too.

This movie was projected to make $40-$45 million over 5 days, now it will be lucky to make $30 million.

We women are so unpredictable, that Hollywood is afraid of us.

After Pitch Perfect 2, Hollywood was more than happy to make more movies for women, but after a movie like Spy (another movie where the b/o came in below expectation) and now MMXXL, Hollywood may not be so eager now to make women center movies.

On the other hand, men are very predictable, which is why 90% of movies (99% of summer movies) are geared toward them.

Oh yeah those men, so predictable... Every movie can perform under or over the projections.

You know it's dead when you have two movies below 1M in the Top 10.

I just seen a TV spot for Magic Mike XXL

claiming it was THE NUMBER 1 MOVIE

they do that all the time, that happened with Observe and Report among recent memory back in 2009 I remember TV spots saying it's the number 1 movie in America and saw that was at number 4 on the charts. They do that to try to get people to see it.

I expect Fifty Shades 2 will track like MMXXL

But Cinderella and PP2 survived because children and teenagers were aloud to see these movies.

MMXXL is geared towards adult women over 18 years of age. That audience is the most unpredictable.

MMXXL can't benefit from a younger than 18 years old female audience.

Comparing Cinderella to MM is like comparing apples and oranges.

Despite what people are saying, MMXXL is still a hit and still will make big profit for the studio.

The predictions for this weekend was based on the first movie, which really over performed.

the first movie had a few benefits. 1)counterprogamming against Ted. 2)Channing Tatum's star power was popular. 3)Popular with the ladies. But with a sequel there were some issues including that feeling of "why a sequel?" But once again this could have a decent performance like the first movie so even if it doesn't do a 100 million WB/New Line would be satisfied.

I think it's crazy how we have two movies that both seem to be dominating the zeitgeist pretty evenly. Yeah, Jurassic World is making much more money, but since June 19, I've pretty seen and heard people talking about Jurassic World and Inside Out in a pretty even nature, both of which are being talked about much more than probably any movie since American Sniper.

IO will hit 300. Yes it will be affected next weekend but it will recover nicely the weeks after. Word of mouth on this is way too strong for it to be hurt by one movie.

I wish I could time travel and take this post back to last month and see if people believe me :D

Because original movies and sequels geared to men, never ever disappoint or bomb. We haven't seen that happen at all this summer.

I guess the reason he re-released Titanic 3 years ago, is because he didn't want his movie to be beaten by The Avengers.

That, and not because 2012 was the 100-year anniversary of the Titanic's launch/sinking. Of course.

It was, on Wednesday, so that was enough to run the ad without it being totally dishonest. I also like the ads that say a movie is the #1 comedy/drama/animated film in theaters to get around it not being #1 overall.
