I think we can do with something a little nice in this thread.

Starting with Infinity War, Jordan Maison has taken it upon himself to get screenings for underprivilaged children and their families via a GoFundMe fundraiser(s). Solo is his second film for the project, and today was the day of an early screening.

A reminder, perhaps, about what this is ultimately all about. :)

Don't worry, Incredibles 2/Jurassic World will be dominating the front page soon enough after this opens.

I think gut feeling that Solo is going to be fine.

There have been times that I see a board 99% convinced something is going to be an epic bomb it surprises.

Sales are pretty good and Memorial Day is more of a family walk up type of weekend.

Like nearly every movie, rooting for this to succeed.

Just got back from a screening of Solo.  Actually enjoyed it more than I thought I would.  Definitely liked it better than Force Awakens.

Did you get a sense of audience reaction during/after the film or was the screening mainly with the press (who we sort of already know their general reaction)?

Do critics not react to films?

Like... isn't that their job?

I've been to a couple press screenings before and they definitely don't react like a general audience in the theater. Quieter. And we sort of know the general reaction from critics with this film.

How do you mean "reacting like a general audience"? They don't laugh when they find something funny....? What other reactions do you get in a cinema usually. Unless you're confusing the cinema with a pantomime.

General buzz in the cinema. Like when watching other big summer big movies like Infinity Wars for example, people were clearly enjoying the film overall, reacting to the set pieces and comedy and staying silent for important "emotional scenes". And also the reaction you get when leaving a cinema. The chatter from others and talking to your friends/family as you leave. Maybe my cinema experiences are different to yours.

I used to believe in that stuff but have since realised that you invent other people's reactions based on your own, i.e. if you enjoy the film then you convince yourself other people are enjoying it too, or if you hate it then you start picking up on other people hating it too. It's a load of rubbish TBH.

70% rt , 6.5/10 after 132 reviews.

don't think it will go rotten but guessing low-mid 60% after 100 more reviews.

more likely to be over 300M dom and under 250m OS, than under 250m dom and under 300m os.
