Ew. Shit for Minions. Shittier that IO and JW are hit. Shittiest that there will be no recovery from 4th July and no breakout.

It's  $100M+ opening for twinkies doing gibberish and pratfalls with mediocre reviews for a movie made for about $75m. It's a rousing financial success.

That movie was a producer s movie.

It cannot be good.

Martin Campbell's did a bang up job with action direction before Casino Royale in GoldenEye and Mask of Zorro. Staging action in and of itself is a skill, and Campbell clearly has it. But keep trying with the whole unreasonably "edgy" and contrarian thing, it's a good look.

We're going to see an animated movie open to more than 100M. Not sure how that is shit.

Pretty awesome that the producers were fine with the showstopping action scenes being done by the first half and the second half being driven by a romance and card games.

Batman Begins and Casino Royals both being crowd pleasers, critical and commercial hits in back to back years has directly led to the large number of reimaginings we see to this day.

We have to thank both of them for Josh Trank's Fant4stic. Edited by CJohn

Minions will still open above $100M. Nothing wrong with that at all. If there is something to worry about is Terminator 5. It won't even get to $100M DOM unless it sees a high Friday increase tonight.

$110m is pretty good and the film is already profitable but I do think it's not going to have good legs. I'm hoping Illumination steps up their game with Pets and the untitled film because complacency is never good in the long run.

I think Fantastic Four (they changed the stylization) will be well reviewed. We may see a First Class level surprise in 3 weeks.

Yeah... Keep believing that. Edited by CJohn

I hope so. I need the next trend for superhero reboots to be to have a Philip Glass score.

Just giving my opinion, don't care if it s seen as edgy or whatever.

I think you simplify things way too much, choosing films that fit your reasoning, making broad generalizations.

Moviemaking is such a collaborative process that, to me, great films are more happy accidents than everything else, even if I don't discount the importance of directors.

Let s agree to disagree.
