I'm sorry, that was actually partially true..  on top of that my niece just got married I was at the wedding yesterday. and practically my whole family is visiting from out of state right now. Storyline: An elderly lord abdicates to his three sons, and the two corrupt ones turn against him.

Coming in at #4 is Japanese-French jidaigeki epic film directed and co-written by Akira Kurosawa "Ran" The film stars Tatsuya Nakadai as Hidetora Ichimonji.

The story is based on legends of the daimyo Mōri Motonari, as well as on the Shakespearean.

 

 

Ran was Kurosawa's last epic. With a budget of $12 million, it was the most expensive Japanese film ever produced up to that time. it received general acclaim among critics, and was nominated for four Oscars, one of which it won; Best Costume Design, Emi Wada

making it's way to the top 3 is the 1985 thriller "Witness" directed by Peter Weir, and starring harrison Ford. The film was a critical and financial success, making over $68m domestically and gearing eight academy award nominations. including a best picture nomination and Ford's one and only nomination Oscar Nomination for best actor. it would win two Oscars in the end (Best Screenplay, best film editing).

Coming in at #2 is the dark sci-fi comedy, Brazil directed by Terry Gilliam and written by Gilliam, Charles McKeown, and Tom Stoppard. it stars Jonathan Pryce, Robert De Niro, Kim Greist, Michael Palin, Katherine Helmond, Bob Hoskins and Ian Holm. the film received critical praise, despite form criticisms of the film being somewhat hard to follow. it would be nominated for two Oscars; best Screenplay, Best Art Direction.

And the Number#1 ranking of 1985, is the timeless classic Back to the Future, the number ranking film at the box office in 1985 with over $210m, it is probably one of the most enduring sci-fi classics of all time. but unlike star wars, it takes a more relatable approach, dealing with family ties and coming of age issues of an everyday man. while also being playful and comedic. In 2007, the Library of Congress selected it for preservation in the National Film Registry, and in June 2008 the American Film Institute's special AFI's 10 Top 10 designated the film as the 10th-best film in the science fiction genre. the film is oved by critics and movie fans alike, it was nominated for numerous awards including four Oscar Nominations, one of them a best original screenplay nomination winning for Best Visual effects. 

 

the date Oct 2st 2015, was consequently the date in Back to the Future II, was the exact date Marty Traveled to the future in, there was film film marathon which played all three movies in the series, it was the highest grossing movie of that date making $1.6m dollars.

Ranking at #9 is the high school, comedy romance film "Clueless" it is a modern incarnation of Jane Austin's classic novel "Emma" (which subsequently would received a direct adaptation only one year later) Starring It stars Alicia Silverstone, Stacey Dash, Paul Rudd, and Brittany Murphy. many would say that clueless is to the 1990s what "Breakfest Club" was to the 1980s. the definitive high school film. showcase the outrageous trends of that decade, it was more than just glitz and glamor though, as the film has been praised for it's humor, performances and time-capsule feel. the film was also a major hit grossing $56m dollars and today has a rather substantial "cult" following. 

 

 

Clueless was tied with braveheart, but beats it out for having a higher average.

It's definitely disappointing to see Before Sunrise miss the top ten. I think it's handily better than the two films listed so far (although I have a very soft spot in my heart for Clueless, and I like Braveheart a lot, but don't quite love it).
