Can't for the life of me understand how Disney approved that casting.

he honestly looks so poor in it I wouldn't be surprised if they found him on some unknown porn site. Not even a popular porn site

I sure hope you aren't comparing the disgusting toxic reaction to Brie Larson to criticisms of the film Aladdin.

Besides the early reactions were very positive.

I'm saying plenty of movies have had horrible social media reaction.

Endless bitchy posts about Will Smith being genie until most realized how stupid that was. Will Smith respects the hell out of what RW did with genie

err  no it didn't?

The above posters are correct, generally speaking social media reactions are extremely positive. I recall the first Fifty Shades getting nothing but raves on social media.

everything gets positive reactions, so if something gets bad reactions or middling reactions it often indicates something much worse.

i think you've misunderstood what we're talking about buddy. this isn't 'posts on social media about X film', this is audience reactions on social media from people who were at premieres & very early exclusive screenings.

they are usually very positive because of the atmosphere and environment of the showing puts them in a extremely good mood. That tweet above that says "I saw Graham Norton, what an awesome night!!" is a prime example. If a celebrity is sitting in front of you during film premiere what are the odds you're going to be a sour bean through the film. good spirits and environment and excitement can make bad films great experiences.

these social media reactions are encouraged by the studio unlike reviews, reason being they are very likely to be positive.

Well, if that embargo is any indication, this movie might not be a critical darling. Disney generally only lifts embargoes for their movies the week of its release if they either want to avoid spoilers spreading like wildfire (TFA/Endgame) or if they have no real confidence in the film.

I’m starting to think that May is going to be a pretty underwhelming month at the box office this year.

Edit: I just remembered that CM also lifted its embargo pretty late. Never mind.

I think you have to separate the reaction to the movie itself from critics and MCU fans and people upset at Brie Larson as a person.

I personally found the movie pretty okay and excited for seeing a new character in the MCU and how she ties into the Infinity Saga.

The actress herself, my viewpoints are known.

I am not going on twitter to look at them so I could be manipulated by the coverage on the reactions but they were overwhelmingly positive

Sounds like the movie might be entertaining enough but Jafar sucks and the movie likely is a big step down from the animated movie

has there even been a recent Disney live action adaptation that's not a step down from the animated one?
