They also claim that Incredibles 2 is the most viewed animated movie of all time in Latin America, but i'm not so sure about that. Minions still win by a lot in USD with almost equally bad ER.

That is definitely all of Central America in Panama

I still do not understand why they use Panama to refer to whole Central America

Did some math on the average ticket price in USD for Venom across Latin America.

Colombia: 3,56

Argentina: 3,76

Chile: 6,72

Perú: 4,44

Brasil: 4,61 (will vary a lot)

Uruguay: 8,28

Paraguay: 5,70

Bolivia: 8,21

Mexico: 3,06

The tragedy of this region is that it seems that the bigger the market, the lower the price.

Here in Panama the average is like 6.50 (2D), around 8.50 (3D), 10+ (IMAX and VIP)

I don't know if this exist anywhere else, but here in Uruguay, I go to the cinema once a week and I never pay $8,28, everyone uses 2x1 (or 50% off) because there are lots of this type of promotions everyday. Btw, regular prices are very expensive.

Same in Argentina, you can get 2x1 tickets or 50% discount very easy with credit cards, cinema apps ir coupons.

That 3.76 USD avg tkt price has the promotion discounts  in the equation 'coz depending on cinemas the full price of tickets goes from 230-250ARS (6,1-6,7 USD) in 2D format.

Impressive, considering that Christmas seems to be a slump in all South America. Is the same in Mexico?

Noup, theatres are open both on 24th and 25th. The 24th are empty but 25th are very crowded, just like in the US is common to go.

Top ten of the year in Ecuador

  1. Infinity War: 7,6M USD
  2. Coco: 5,6M
  3. The Nun: 3,3M
  4. Incredibles 2: 3,27M
  5. Black Panther: 3,10M
  6. Jurassic World: 2,88M
  7. Hotel Transylvania 3: 2,4M
  8. Venom: 2,4M
  9. Deadpool 2: 2,09M
  10. Ralph Breaks the Internet: 2,02*

*Still on release but has few screen left.

I'm fairly positive that Infinity War is the highest grossing movie of all time. Coco gross is insane also, is the highest grossing animated movie crushing Ice Age 4 by 47% (And I think is third of all time overall after IW and Furious 7 but not sure)
